U.S. Air Force Takes a Look at teleportation

Here is the real story. Eric's article is a fluff piece for Hal
Puthoff's discredited theories.

Abstract
We show that Dark Energy contributions can not be
determined from noise measurements of Josephson
junctions, as was recently suggested in a paper by
C. Beck and M.C. Mackey. Zero-point energies and
non-gravitational effects In a recent paper
[<http://www.arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0406504>] of
C. Beck and M.C. Mackey the possibility was suggested
that part of the zero-point energy of the radiation
field that is gravitationally active can be determined
from noise measurements of Josephson junctions. We are
convinced that there is no basis for this. The reason
being that the absolute value of the zero-point energy
of a quantum mechanical system has no physical meaning
when gravitational coupling is ignored. All that is
measurable are changes of the zero-point energy under
variations of system parameters or of external
couplings, like an applied voltage. This was nicely
illustrated some time ago by C. Enz and A. Thellung in
a paper [<http://www.arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0203330>]
contained in the memorial volume of Helv. Phys. Acta
for W. Pauli. Beside the Casimir effect, these authors
considered the sublimation pressure of isotopes.
Contrary to earlier beliefs of O. Stern and W. Pauli
[<http://tinyurl.com/4vb66>], the latter is independent
of whether the zero-point energies of the lattice
vibrations of the solid are included or not, as long as
the total Hamiltonian is symmetric in all the atoms
(in the solid and vapor phases)...
http://www.arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0411034

This paper is also relevant to some of Puthoff's claims
on the connection of zero point energy to the flat plate
Casimir force ~ hcA/d^4

In fact the zero point energy in ordinary vacuum = 0 otherwise its
bending of space-time would be too strong. This is the cosmological
constant paradox. I have shown that the Higgs Ocean vacuum coherence
sucks up all the zero point energy except in some "exotic vacuum"
situations that show up as both (w = -1) "dark energy" and "dark
matter". The latter simulates w = 0 in its gravity lensing multiple
imaging seen by distant observers.

In fact the Casimir force is an electrostatic force of mutually
induced electric dipoles in the neutral molecules of the plates. The
real formula for Casimir force is

Casimir force ~ e^2A/d^4

the e^2 is the usual electrostatic Casimir-Polder dipole-dipole force
when the summation over the plates is done properly. See Ian
Peterson's papers or Milonni's book. Milonni has 3 methods only his
last is correct because Milonni did not include gravity in his first
two models.

Eric Davis's explanation of the Casimir force in his USAF paper is
also wrong, but it is a common error because of the confusion over the
cosmological constant problem.

Proceeding onward to Eric Davis's next section on Hal Puthoff's PV
theory of metric engineering warp, wormhole and weapon. Why did Eric
not stick in some numbers to show that the Casimir force approach is
completely irrelevant to the real problem? It is much too small!
That's why. In fact, it is hardly worth bringing up except to say it
is not important.

Look at Eric's eq. (2.13) the term in question is

~ 10^2x 10^-4 x 10^-3 10^-44 a^-4 ~ 10^-49/a^4

Suppose a ~ 1 nanometer = 10^-7 cm

This term is then ~ 10^-49 10^28 ~ 10^-21

where a is separation of Casimir plates in centimeters.

To be continued.

Air Force report calls for $7.5M to study psychic teleportation

By Dan Vergano, USA TODAY
Star Trek fans may be happy to hear that the Air Force has paid to
study psychic teleportation.

But scientists aren't so thrilled.

The Air Force Research Lab's August "Teleportation Physics Report,"
posted earlier this week on the Federation of American Scientists
(FAS) Web site, struck a raw nerve with physicists and critics of
wasteful military spending.

$25,000 - hardly "wasteful spending".

In the report, author Eric Davis says psychic teleportation, moving
yourself from location to location through mind powers, is "quite
real
and can be controlled." The 88-page report also reviews a range of
teleportation concepts and experiments:

[] Quantum teleportation, a technique demonstrated in the
last decade that shifts the characteristics, but not the
location, of sub-atomic particles at great distances.

[] Wormholes, a highly theoretical possibility whereby
the intense gravitational field near black holes could
rip open entrances to distant locales.

[] Psychokinesis, or psychic teleportation. In support of
the idea, the report cites UFO reports, Soviet and Chinese
studies of psychics and U.S. military studies of
spoon-bending phenomena.

"It is in large part crackpot physics," says physicist
Lawrence Krauss of Case Western Reserve University, author
of The Physics of Star Trek, a book detailing the physical
limits that prevent teleportation.
He describes the Air Force report as "some things adapted
from reasonable theoretical studies, and other things from
nonsensical ones."

Certainly some crackpot physics. "Large part"? I am not sure yet. I
have not read whole paper as yet. Proceeding slowly but carefully.

Some experts have long criticized what they see as a military
sweet tooth for junk science. A "remote viewing" project, for
example, undertaken by defense intelligence services and
declassified in 1994, sought to see whether psychic powers
could be employed to spy on the Soviet Union.
The teleportation report "raises questions of scientific
quality control at the Air Force," the FAS' Steven
Aftergood says.

Davis, a physicist with Warp Drive Metrics of Las Vegas,
couldn't be reached for comment. The Air Force paid $25,000
for the report, part of a $20.5 million advanced rocket and
missile design contract. The report calls for $7.5 million
to conduct psychic teleportation experiments.

"The views expressed in the report are those of the author
and do not necessarily reflect the official policy of the
Air Force, the Department of Defense or the U.S. Government,"
says an Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) statement sent to
USA TODAY. "There are no plans by the AFRL Propulsion
Directorate for additional funding on this contract."

Explaining why the lab sponsored the study, AFRL spokesman
Ranney Adams said, "If we don't turn over stones, we don't
know if we have missed something ... "

Back to Matt Visser Section 14.4

Eq. (14.28) p. 158, set the last two terms = 0 on RHS i.e.
non-exotic vacuum with /\zpf = 0 on both sides of the thin
shell stargate wormhole mouth.

Eq. (14.41) p.160 for surface stress-energy tensor in
the thin shell, from GCT becomes

equal principal ZPF surface tensions = - ZPF surface
energy density S i.e. w = -1.

Therefore Einstein's exotic vacuum ZPF field equation

Guv + /\zpfguv = 0

at the thin shell stargate doorway to the ET universe
next door simplifies to [eqs (14.42-44)]

(c^4/8piG)S = -2K

(8piG/c^4)S = K - Ko

0 = 3K - Ko

i.e.

Ko = 3K

Ko = &Ro/Ro^2

K = &R/R^2

R = Mean transverse curvature radius of the thin shell
in the plane of the thin shell.

&R is the jump in transverse curvature radius from the
zero point energy in the thin shell.

Similarly, Ro is the curvature radius normal to the thin shell.

[S] = [Energy]/[Area]

[8piG/c^4] = [Length]/[Energy]

[K] = 1/[Length] ~ 1/(Radius of Curvature) = 2D Surface Curvature

S = (c^4/8piG)d/\zpf

d = small thickness of the thin shell.

The actual solution in Eric Davis's USAF paper is no good at all. It
does not work for zero point dark energy with w = -1. Kip Thorne's
exotic matter is qualitatively different from dark zero point energy
although both can give antigravity. There is no evidence for Kip
Thorne's "exotic matter" but there is plenty of evidence for dark
zero point energy.

Eric Davis, without deep thought completely ignoring what I have
been telling him since 2002, simply lifted Matt Visser's "balloon
& soap bubble" solution in section 14.6.4. This is no good since
it requires that Ko = 0, which is forbidden for ZPF by the
equivalence principle.

On Nov 4, 2004, at 12:29 PM, Jack Sarfatti wrote:

re: www.space.com/businesstechnology/technovel_teleport_041103.html

From Matt Visser's "Lorentzian Wormholes" Ch 14. Note that Eric
Davis's paper leans heavily on Matt Visser's book and that Matt
Visser told me personally at GR 17 in Dublin July 2004 that he
thought Hal Puthoff's PV theory was not a good strategy for
anything important.
Nevertheless, Eric Davis continues to promote Hal's discredited
theory to USAF as a viable approach. What's wrong with this
picture? Is this how to connect the dots?

The idea of "thin shell" is "for analyzing the gravitational
field of a thin (delta-function) layer of matter" p. 153

Change "matter" to "exotic vacuum", i.e. /\zpf field and obviously
a Dirac delta function is an idealization for mathematical
convenience that is not physical in this case.

The idea of the thin shell star gate is literally a flat (in one
dimension) wormhole portal "doorway" to walk through for instant
teleportation, including time travel. The Star Gate SG1 set is
close to The Truth Out There.
http://www.stargatesg1.com/home.html

A delta function source creates a kink in the "potential" and a
discontinuity in the "force field". In this case the potential is
the GCT (General Coordinate Transformation or Diff(4)) metric tensor
field guv and the force field is the Levi-Civita "Christoffel"
connection (^uvw) that is not a GCT tensor using only Einstein's
1916 theory for now. That may not be adequate. We may need torsion
fields, nonmetricity fields from extra space dimensions, conformal
boost and dilation fields. But for now, let's see how far we can
get without that extra stuff.

Remember this is not mere theory. The UFO fact is that someone
Out There is already doing it. We are now at the beginning, most
likely, of runaway global warming followed by an ice age
eco-catastrophe.
Maybe we have 20 years if we are lucky. Hopefully that is all
wrong, but it is a good idea to act now as if it is not wrong
and get the real physics of metric engineering. That is why it
is a fatal error for the USAF & USG Military Intelligence to
rely on Hal Puthoff as their primary source of information in
this fields. The CSICOPs are also a threat to survival of the
planet with their mindless debunking.

So "the metric is continuous, but with a kink.

The connection (Christoffel symbol) has a step function
discontinuity.

The Riemann tensor has a delta-function contribution."

Obviously a real star gate smoothes out the discontinuity and the
delta-function.

"the Ricci tensor generated by the gravitational influence of a
thin shell of stress-energy to the discontinuity of the second
fundamental forms defined by considering the thin shell to be an
immersed submanifold of the full spacetime." p. 154

We want a thin shell source of off-mass-shell virtual zero point
dark stress-energy exotic vacuum /\zpf =/= 0, NOT Kip Thorne's
on-mass-shell "exotic matter". No evidence for latter, good
evidence for former.

"Loosely speaking, the second fundamental form is the normal
derivative of the [three dimensional] metric." p. 12

Section 14.1: eq, (14.3) p. 154 is the equation for a generic
metric created by a thin shell source.

Coordinate independent constraint is that the first fundamental
forms on the two sides of the thin shell metric are equal.

eq. (14.5) defines the unit normal field to the thin shell exotic
vacuum zero point dark stress-energy source (stargate portal or
throat "like a thin film of soap stretched across a loop of
wire" - Eric Davis p.11).

eq (14.6) are the two second fundamental forms one on each
side of the thin shell of exotic vacuum dark energy.

Set up convenient Gaussian normal coordinates in a tiny boundary
layer neighborhood of the thin shell.

See eqs (14.9) & (14.10) for the 3D space-like metric
decomposition inside the thin shell and normal to it. p. 155

The second fundamental forms on both sides of the thin shell are
then defined in eq. (14.13) p. 156. The Levi-Civita Christoffel
non-tensor "g-force" connection field for this thin shell source
is developed in section 14.2 in terms of the discontinuity of
the second fundamental forms on the two sides of the thin shell
star gate "doorway". See eq. (14.21) p. 157. There is a
nonvanishing "g-force" ("weight") only on non-geodesic local
noninertial frames (LNIF). The directly measurable local g-force
is not a GCT tensor. That would violate the equivalence
principle, i.e. WEP for the center of mass of an extended body.

Section 14.3 computes the 4th rank Riemann tidal acceleration
curvature tensor that does not vanish in a local inertial frame on
a timelike geodesic (LIF) in curved spacetime. See eq. (14.23)

Here the Bianchi identities work. We do not want that of course if
we are to have practical metric engineering. Therefore, we may
need an extended connection to spoil the antisymmetry of the
covariant derivatives of the curvature tensor needed for the Bianchi
identities to hold. The Bianchi identities prohibit the direct
mingling of the zero point energy vacuum currents with the
geometrodynamic currents.
The Bianchi identites demand that /\zpf not be a local variable
field but a true constant. That is no good for star gate construction.

The idealized thin shell forms for the second rank GCT 4D Ricci
tensor Ruv, the Ricci scalar R and the Einstein tensor Guv are
given in eqs. (14.25 - 27) p. 158.

Second 14.4 deals with the stress-energy tensor

Tuv(matter) where Davis invokes Tuv(exotic matter). Our theory is
very different, more restrictive, because tuv(exotic ZPF
vacuum) = (c^4/8piG)/\zpfguv where the three-metric part of
guv is in eq (14.9) that does not include any time-travel
redshift function as yet in the goo term.

Eq. 14.28 has a thin shell surface strese-energy tensor Suv.
Visser also invokes separate local conservation Tuv^;v = 0 which
is NO GOOD AT ALL! It throws the practical metric engineering
baby out with the bathwater. Eric Davis is blissfully ignorant
of all this in his report to the USAF which misses entirely the
essential clue in how the UFOs work. Remember that Davis worked
for NIDS in Las Vegas whose sole purpose was UFOs. That Franklin
Meade of USAF Edwards AFB Advanced Propulsion Group openly
funded Eric's work here has the obvious implication for the
reality of UFOs. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to
figure that one out - but it helps! ;-)

So eq. (14.29) p. 158 MUST BE VIOLATED if you want to catch up
with ET on warp, wormhole and weapon! Therefore Eric Davis
discussion of the thin shell star gate in the USAF report is
wrong and Visser's sections 14.4 and 14.5, 14.6 ... need to
be reworked in this broader context.
Therefore, you cannot conclude anything real about warp,
wormhole and weapon from Eric Davis's report to USAF.
It is at least a good start in the sense of

"The Question is: What is The Question?" John Archibald Wheeler

gtheta,theta = 1

gphi,phi = sin^2(theta)

The guv must be dimensionless.

The flat thin shell model in Eric Davis's USAF paper cited below
does not work for zero point dark energy that is ~ 73% of the
universe. Eric needs "exotic matter" that does not exist.
Eric's invoking of the Casimir force to get such "exotic
matter" will not work at all.

However, there should be a way to work around this to get
effective instant teleportation without tidal forces to distant
parts of our universe and to parallel universes next door
including time travel to past and future. Why? Because advanced
intelligences are already doing it routinely so there must be
a way. Heading towards that goal note that in the above model

/\zpf ~ 1/r*^2

r* is the radius of the spherical throat "portal" of this star
gate toy model. For example, the "floating sphere" at Bigelow's
Utah Ranch reported in a NIDS paper by Eric Davis would have
radius r* ~ 1 meter. A creature resembling Big Foot was seen
coming out of the sphere (by a paramilitary NIDS field unit
in Bigelow's employ?) according to the NIDS report.

From the Josephson effect the induced /\zpf starting from a
non-exotic vacuum is

/\zpf = (dimensionless coupling)(Mc/h)^2(Volume of Exotic Vacuum
Region)(Density of Higgs Ocean)^1/2(Density of Control
Condensate)^1/2Cos(Relative Phase of Higgs Ocean - Control
Condensate)

M ~ 10^-5 gm is the usual assumption, but M may be a lot smaller.
We do not know yet.

Therefore, very crudely:

b' = -(r/r*)^2e^2Z(r)

Z' = [b - r^3r*^-2[1 - b(r)/r]^-1]/2r^2(1 - b(r)/r)

(r*^-2[1 - b(r)/r]^-1)' = r*^-2(-e^2Z(r) - [1 - b(r)/r]^-1)Z'
+
[r*^-2(1 + sin^2theta)]/r

How to make the flat stargate in Eric Davis's USAF paper with dark
energy is a problem that needs to be solved ASAP.

Despite fact Hal Puthoff has published his PV model in

he is still unable to show the gravimagnetism predicted and
confirmed by GR. Also GR correctly predicts 1913 + 16 pulsar
data to a precision of 10^-14 where PV gives a wrong answer
way outside that error bar.

"Straw man. PV, being a scalar theory, was never meant to
apply to gravimagnetism or to cover the total degrees of
freedom of gravitational radiation, and you know it."

Well Franklin Mead at USAF Edwards AFB Advanced Propulsion
apparently doesn't know that. Eric Davis never says that in
his USAF report on "Teleportation" you arranged for him. Chief
Scientists at DIA, CIA, NAS, Lockheed Martin ... also editors
at Aviation Week also Nick Cook at Jane's Defence Weekly don't
know that. They all think I am a Blue Meanie to poor you! ;-)
http://stardrive.org/cartoon/USSKron.html

I agree your puny little 98 lb weakling PV scalar theory
compared to Einstein's Charles Atlas tensor GR theory for
the past 20 years is able to get the same 3 classic results
that Einstein already had by 1916. That's not a victory by
any standards.
Mike Ibison did a nice PV paper showing that the you cannot
explain 1913 + 16. Mike also says your PV is not consistent
with Diff(4) GCT.

Since you cannot get gravimagnetism frame drag, how can you
claim, with a straight face, that PV is any good for metric
engineering of warp, wormhole and WMD to all those Project
Managers, CEOs, Investors etc? Also we know that the real
purpose of all this is the UFO flying saucers and you don't
dare deny that! We have discussed that directly in the past
with witnesses like Saul-Paul Sirag - for example at the
Gorbachev State of the World Forum 2000 at the Fairmount
Hotel in San Francisco.
These people at DIA, CIA, NASA, L-M, BAE, Jane's Defence ...
want something that has some hope of working. Something
that can do it all. Something seamlessly integrated with
the Battle-Tested Real McCoy Einstein's General Theory of
Relativity. Eric Davis and you & Co never even whisper
"Dark Energy has anti-gravity" it's not in any of your
papers and I have written it in copyrighted form in the
relevant context for the first time in 2 books already
in 2002 that are both on Amazon.com. These serious folks
want The Right Stuff.
How long do you think you can keep stringing them
along with these promises, promises, promises, false hopes
and wishing that never make it so? How long I ask you?
Do you think the physicists in Moscow, Beograd, Kiev,
Teheran, Beijing are waiting for you? They are forging
ahead while you spin your wheels at the bottom of the
Sand Dune for years and years and years. I have come Hal
to wake you from your dogmatic slumbers.

It's time to get out of the Tea Pot Hal.
The Queen of Hearts is definitely not amused. Capisce? ;-)

"It is only meant to apply to those applications in its
domain of applicability. And there it does very well."

Not good enough.

"Your other straw man, that your GR 17 colleagues don't take
PV seriously as a replacement for GR is just a statement against
your claim that that's what it's claimed to be. What they're
saying is true. What you're saying is false."

Stop splitting legal hairs and quibbling. You know what I
mean. We are talking defense policy planning dealing with
the UFO coverup. Now that dark energy has been discovered
this is Disclosure time.

The Right Stuff?
To be published in "Super Cosmos".

Nick Cook in his book "The Hunt for Zero Point" and Aviation
Week in "To the Stars" have been put on a wild goose chase.
Here is the True Story with The Right Virtual Stuff.

Casimir force? We don't need no damn Casimir force to reach
for The Stars and Beyond! ;-)

Start from Matt Visser's "Lorentzian Wormholes" 2.3.12 Generic
static spherically symmetric spacetime: Without horizon i.e.
Stargate metric toy model.

Visser's eq. (2.72) is essentially Davis's eq. (2.1). Visser's
equations (2.73) - (2.84) p. 26 have what we need.

Notation: ' is ,r i.e. radial partial derivative. r is the
Schwarzschild coordinate not the isotropic one Hal Puthoff
misuses in his "PV without PV" "corrupted file will not
display" parody of GR. :-) Matt Visser agreed with me on
that at GR 17 in our double decker bus ride for drinks to
The Vault on Dublin's river front. See Visser's eq. (2.40)
p. 20 on Schwarzschild r vs isotropic r for GR SSS, see
also Fig 2.2 Kruskal coordinate patches, p. 21 ignored in
PV completely because of the "exponential" that does not
work for now observed gravimagnetism (essential to metric
engineering warp, wormhole & weapon).

b(r) is the wormhole mouth (stargate portal) shape function.
Z(r) is the "time machine" through the stargate function.
Z(r) = 0 means no time-travel shift through the star gate.
Ignore Hawking's "chronology protection" infinite blue
shift barrier against time travel to the past for now
since it looks to me like we can time reverse it to a
harmless infinite red shift. I cannot prove this yet but
there is indirect empirical evidence from UFO "high
strangeness" as in Eric Davis's NIDS paper with
Jacques Vallee.

T00 is the energy density. Trr is the radial tension, p =
transverse pressure = Ttheta,theta = Tphi,phi in spherical
polar coordinates.

Trace Tuv (energy-momentum tensor of gravity source real
and/or virtual exotic vacuum) = (energy density) + (radial
tension) + 2(transverse pressure)

For isotropy (radial tension = transverse pressure) this
reduces to (energy density)(1 + 3w)

For zpf w - -1 from Lorentz covariance in tangent
space + WEP minimal coupling of source to geometry,
i.e. local gauge invariance relative to 4-parameter
translation group.

The Einstein field equations, reduce to

b' = (8piG/c^4)r^2T00 a dimensionless pure number

Z' = [b - (8piG/c^4)r^3Trr]/2r^2(1 - b/r)

Trr' = (T00 - Trr)Z' - 2(p + Trr)/r

In the special case of the exotic vacuum dark zero point
energy

Tuv(exotic vacuum) = (c^4/8piG)/\zpfguv

Therefore, the stargate field equations with exotic vacuum
dark zero point energy are:

b' = r^2/\zpfg00

Z' = [b - r^3/\zpfgrr]/2r^2(1 - b/r)

(/\zpfgrr)' = /\zpf(g00 - grr)Z' + [/\zpf(gtheta,theta +
gphi,phi)]/r

Where we can use Eric Davis's eq. (2.2) i.e. in my notation
g00 = -e^2Z(r) (metric time travel distortion through the
stargate) grr = [1 - b(r)/r]^-1 (shape of star gate passage
way AKA throat function)

gtheta,theta = 1

gphi,phi = sin^2(theta)

The guv must be dimensionless.

On Oct 31, 2004, at 9:21 PM, Jack Sarfatti wrote:

My point here is that in my macro-quantum theory gravity
comes from the phase of a post-inflation giant quantum
vacuum wave (Higgs Ocean) of small entropy that comes from
an instability in the pre-inflation micro-quantum Dirac Sea
of charged massless virtual fermions with large entropy.
This is analogous to a superconductor. The origin of inertia
of the lepto-quarks is a vacuum coherence effect, not the
random ZPF EM drag of Haisch and Puthoff.
This is like the energy-gap in the fermion quasi-particle
spectrum of the BCS superconductor from the binding energy
of electron pairs in the condensate. Nambu & Jona Lasino
had this basic idea decades ago. But they did not
have gravity and dark energy built in as I do.

There is no quantum gravity foam here. When the giant quantum
wave vanishes in a dark energy macro-quantum topological
defect like the one at the center of the Sun causing the
anomaly in the motion of the NASA Pioneer space probes then
we simply get back the globally flat unstable pre-inflation
false vacuum inside the core of a topological defect in the
coherent calm low entropy Higgs Ocean.

Note for NASA Space Probes Pioneer 10/11:

a_p = cH ~ 10^-7 cm/sec^2 to ~ 10% precision = anomalous
acceleration back towards Sun.

Here /\zpf(Pioneer anomaly) = H(t)/cr

H(t) = R(t)^-1dR(t)/dt

R(t) = dimensionless FRW scale factor

t = cosmic time

Gravity potential energy per unit test mass of the exotic
vacuum hedgehog topological defect between the 2 spheres,
the first at 20 AU from Sun is

V(zpf) = c^2/\zpfr^2 = cHr = cv Pioneer 10/11 anomaly

v = Hubble recession speed of the expanding space of the
universe.

Or, like the flat stellar rotation curves around the dark
matter Galactic Halo concentric to the giant black hole in
the galactic center

V(zpf) = c^2/\zpfr^2 = v'^2 Galactic Halo v' is constant
stellar circulating speed in the flat part of the rotation
curve of the Galaxy

/\zpf(Galactic Halo) = (v'/cr)^2

The entropy of the universe if it is a hologram in sense of
Hawking's formula

S/kB = A/4Lp^2

in my theory is exactly

S(Universe)/kB = R(t)^2/4 BITS

R(today t = 13.7 billion years from Big Bang) = 10^61

The entropy/kB of our universe today is ~ 10^122 BITS.

The universe starts from 1/4 BIT at the initial singularity,
i.e. Dirac Sea to Higgs Ocean vacuum phase transition.

This study would not have been possible without the
very generous support of Dr. Frank Mead, Senior Scientist
at the Advanced Concepts Office of the U.S. Air Force
Research Laboratory (AFRL) Propulsion Directorate at

ready assistance, and constant encouragement were
invaluable to me. Dr. Mead's professionalism and
excellent rapport with "out-of-the-box" thinkers excites

that push the envelope of knowledge and discovery.
The author owes a very large debt of gratitude and
appreciation to both Dr. David Campbell, Program Manager,
ERC, Inc. at AFRL, Edwards AFB, CA, and the ERC, Inc.
staff, for supporting the project contract and for making
all the paperwork fuss totally painless. Dr. Campbell and
his staff provided timely assistance when the author
needed it, which helped make this contract project
run smoothly.
There are two colleagues who provided important
contributions to this study that I wish to acknowledge.
First, I would like to express my sincere thanks and
deepest appreciation to my first longtime mentor and
role model, the late Dr. Robert L. Forward. Bob Forward
was the first to influence my interests in interstellar
flight and advanced breakthrough physics concepts
(i.e., "Future Magic") when I first met him at an AIAA
Joint Propulsion Conference in Las Vegas while I was in
high school (ca. 1978). The direction I took in life from
that point forward followed the trail of exploration and
discovery that was blazed by Bob. I will miss him, but I
will never forget him. Second, I would like to express my
sincere thanks and appreciation to my longtime friend,
colleague and present mentor, Dr. Hal Puthoff, Institute
for Advanced Studies-Austin, for our many discussions on
applying his Polarizable Vacuum-General Relativity model
to a quasi-classical teleportation concept. Hal taught me
to expand my mind, and he encourages me to think outside
the box. He also gave me a great deal of valuable insight
and personal knowledge about the Remote Viewing Program.
Last, I would like to offer my debt of gratitude and thanks
to my business manager (and spouse), Lindsay K. Davis, for

Mind: A Brief Introduction (Fundamentals of Philosophy)
by John R. Searle
http://tinyurl.com/4pekr

Editorial Reviews

The philosophy of mind is unique among contemporary
philosophical subjects, writes John Searle, "in that all
of the most famous and influential theories are false."
In Mind, Searle dismantles these famous and influential
theories as he presents a vividly written, comprehensive
introduction to the mind. Here readers will find one of
the world's most eminent thinkers shedding light on the
central concern of modern philosophy. Searle begins with
a look at the twelve problems of philosophy of mind--which
he calls "Descartes and Other Disasters"--problems which
he returns to throughout the volume, as he illuminates
such topics as the freedom of the will, the actual
operation of mental causation, the nature and functioning
of the unconscious, the analysis of perception, and the
concept of the self. One of the key chapters is on the
mind-body problem, which Searle analyzes brilliantly.
He argues that all forms of consciousness--from feeling
thirsty to wondering how to translate Mallarme--are caused
by the behavior of neurons and are realized in the brain
system, which is itself composed of neurons. But this does
not mean that consciousness is nothing but neuronal
behavior. The main point of having the concept of
consciousness, Searle points out, is to capture the first
person subjective features of the phenomenon and this
point is lost if we redefine consciousness in third person
objective terms. Described as a "dragonslayer by
temperament," John Searle offers here a refreshingly
direct and open discussion of philosophy, one that skewers
accepted wisdom even as it offers striking new insights
into the nature of consciousness and the mind.

General Introduction: The Riddle of Consciousness
Antti Revonsuo Matti Kamppinen University of Turku, Finland
Seppo Sajama University of Joensuu, Finland
WHAT IS CONSCIOUSNESS?
In a very profound sense, it is consciousness that makes
the difference between life and death or existence and
nonexistence. What does your whole life consist of but an
extended progression of lived conscious experiences? Your
stream of awareness started to flow sometime between the
womb and the cradle, perhaps with more or less chaotic
sensations filling your subjective world. Since then,
that world has evolved a lot--now you are surrounded by
a relatively coherent perceptual world consisting of
colorful, well-formed objects, animals, and people;
sounds located in this three-dimensional space, smells
in the air and tastes in your mouth, sensations of touch,
warmth, cold, pain, and pleasure on your skin and in your
body. In your mind, your inner voice almost endlessly
comments on your perceptions, intentions, and problems.
The stream of thought flows across the perceptual world:
"Aha, it looks like rain... they didn't predict it, though.
All right, let's move... do I have everything with me
now... keys, yes, wallet.. in the bag... oh yes, the
umbrella, I almost forgot...." Every now and then your
awareness becomes immersed in a daydream that might be
accompanied by intense visual and auditory imagery, thus
causing you to lose your sense of the actual surroundings.
At each moment you have a strong sense of the present,
that is the only thing directly accessible to
consciousness. The sorrows and joys of yesteryear are
long gone from the current experienced reality --at best
they can be re-experienced through the feeble memory
traces imprinted and buried somewhere inside your brain.
Nevertheless, most of the conscious experiences once
enjoyed by you have just vanished into thin air and are
forever out... [...]
Antti Revonsuo discusses five models of consciousness to
try to answer the ontological problem of consciousness.
He concludes that consciousness is a kind of organization
which can be used as part of a causal explanation, but
that it in turn can be explained by neurobiology.
In other words, consciousness should be conceived as one
level of the hierarchy in the natural world. [...]

Cassini-Huygens mission
http://www1.nasa.gov/lb/mission_pages/cassini/main/index.html
A strikingly bright feature that is consistent with an active geology
has been seen in one of Cassini's first radar images of Saturn's moon
Titan. There are many possibilities for what it is but one of the
leading candidates is that it may be a 'cryovolcanic' flow or
'ice volcano'. "It may be something that flowed," said Cassini radar
team member Dr. Ralph Lorenz of the University of Arizona, Tucson.
"Or it could be something carved by erosion. It's too early to say.
"But it looks very much like it's something that oozed across the
surface. It may be some sort of cryovolcanic flow, an analog to
volcanism on Earth that is not molten rock but, at Titan's very cold
temperatures, molten ice."

A gift for us all. We've all got 8 years left -- make the best of it.
Unless you're planning on relocating to Mars with NASA to live with the
greys who have claimed Mars as their planet. ;)

It's almost over.

Smile and enjoy it, it's all anyone on earth has left and the alternative
(3) is to live with the greys on Mars -- providing NASA can get there from
here. :)

Alexa Cameron taught basic geological principles to undergraduates, both in
Geology and Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury. Her research
interests centred on the study of foraminifera - marine microfossils.
Although now retired from the Department of Geological Sciences, she
continues to contribute to programmes at the Centre for Continuing
Education, as she has done for many years.

Arlen Spector in Crosshairs as Christian Right Seeks Payback
http://www.airamericaradio.com/

The White House will make Senator Arlen Spector fight for his
job as head of the Senate Judiciary Committee, after his
remarks cautioning Bush about nominating judges intent on
overturning Roe V. Wade. Senator Bill Frist -- incidentally
Karl Rove's pick for 2008 -- says that Spector "must prove to
his Republican colleagues" that he is the right man for the job.

It's payback time for the Religious Right and they mean to
collect in full. Bob Jones 111, he of Bob Jones University
fame, sent a congratulatory note to George W. with the
following admonition: "Put your agenda on the front burner
and let it boil. You owe the liberals nothing. They despise
you because they despise your Christ. Honor the Lord, and He
will honor you. If you have weaklings around you who do not
share your biblical values, shed yourself of them."

Clear enough? Newsweek reports that the evangelicals
"now hold daily conference calls and meetings to review a
long legislative wish list: conservative judicial appointments,
a federal amendment banning gay marriage, abortion restrictions,
tougher obscenity laws, school vouchers, a ban on all human cloning."

"Liars and cowards, you are nothing but dogs!" goes the

ISLAM: A SEX POSITIVE RELIGION

Islam could be classed as a sex-positive religion.
Though it held many positions in common with
Judaism and Christianity, and many characters in
the Bible appear in the Koran, Islamic laws relating
to marriage, divorce, fornication, and other aspects
of sexual behavior are derived more from pre-Islamic
Arabic attitudes than from the Judeo-Christian
tradition. Moreover, the Greek ascetic attitudes
about sex were at first not particualrly strong in
Islam, although they later had some effect.
The key to Islamic outlooks on sex, as on so many
other things, is the teachings of the Prophet
Muhammed, who, true to the Arabic tradition,
regarded sex as a good rather than an evil aspect
of life. This still holds true today.

H. R. P. Dickson, a recorder of Arab customs
and mores, reported in the 1930s that it was

no exageration to say that sexual intercourse
is loved by the ordinary Arab above all pleasures
in the world. It is the one great pleasure common
to rich and poor alike, and the one moment of
forgetfulness in his daily round of troubles that
Badawin or townsmen can enjoy. Men and women
equally love the act, which is said to keep men
young, "just like riding a mare."

In this attitude the Arabs were simply reflecting
the teachings of Muhammed.
A nineteenth-century Muslim writer summarized
the Islamic attitudes.

Coition is one of the causes of the preservation of
health. Let him among you who is in a condition for
having sufficient copulation marry: marriage gives
moderation of the gaze and more obligatorily turns
one away from incest and adultery.

Before Muhammed, The Arabs were a male-centered
tribal people pacticing polygamy, circumcision, and
occasional infanticide, whose customs and gods were
being undermined by outside forces, Including
Christianity and Judaism. Though the Prophet modified,
changed, abolished, and reformed many traditional
Arabic customs and beliefs, the Muslim Arabs
remained a male-centered, polygamous society in which
women were regarded as inferior to men. Muhammed,
regarded by Islam as the last and greatest of the
prophets of Allah, was born in Mecca about 570 A.D.
and died there in 632 A.D. [...]

I can think of none, given humanity is still living under the Feudal System,
now called the Federal Reserve.

And we all thought the industrial age had enlightened us.

Proving the more things improve, the worse they get.

And so it goes!

PS it's all about balance.
