I died 54 years ago...
I was born in Beacon, New York, on February 15, 1892.
After graduating from high school, I attended Dartmouth
College and Princeton University. Leaving Princeton in
1915, I then worked as both a financial reporter and
tobacco salesman until 1916, when I entered the banking
business full time in New York City.
At the onset of the First World War, I enlisted in the
United States Navy, and was later commissioned a naval
aviator and served both in this country and abroad.
I was discharged at the rank of Lieutenant in July 1919,
and reentered the banking business.
In June 1940, I accepted a post as Administrative Assistant
to President Roosevelt, serving as a liaison for the
President overseeing the National Defense Program.
Two months later, I was appointed to the newly-created
office of Under Secretary of the Navy. In this position,
I was in charge of a procurement and production program
that produced the world's largest Navy.
Iwas appointed Secretary of the Navy in may 1944. Then,
I took the oath of office as our country's first Secretary
of Defense in September 1947, and served in that capacity
until 1949 when failing health forced my resignation.
I died on May 22, 1949. I was ONLY Fifty Seven Years Young!
There's a bronze bust at the mall entrance to the pentagon
inscribed as follows:
"This memorial to James Forrestal, as a spontaneous
tribute to his lasting accomplishments in providing
for national security and his selfless devotion to
duty, was erected by thousands of his friends and
co-workers of all rank and stations."
Additionally, a life-size brass bust has for many years been
a fixture on the USS Forrestal quarterdeck. This bust serves
as a constant reminder of the legacy bestowed upon the ship
by my name, as well as the numerous contributions, in both
life and death, made to our Navy and our nation's defense
program. The USS Forrestal has long been and forever will be
proud to be carrying on the "First in Defense".

Developed as a diagnostic tool, now it looks like a promising
therapy
Recent studies by Harvard researchers at McLean Hospital in
Belmont, Mass., have enlarged the body of knowledge about a
promising, though still experimental, treatment for a variety of
psychiatric disorders. The treatment is called "transcranial
magnetic stimulation," and essentially involves placing a powerful
electromagnet on a person's scalp. The electromagnet alters brain
activity by inducing an electromagnetic current in the underlying
cortical neurons. Researchers aren't sure why that would have a

ENOCH
The "Book of Enoch", translated by Richard Laurence in
1821 from scrolls found hidden in caves in Ethiopia in 1773.
These scrolls were evidently hidden in the same historical
period as the Dead Sea Scrolls. The Richard Laurence translation
should not be confused with "The Secrets of Enoch" written in
1925 by some newage sewage author, or a more recent fanatical
tome fabricated by Elizabeth Clare Prophet.
Enoch means "learned one". There were many "Enochs" over the eons.
The Book of Enoch talks of 200 "fallen angels", who
"fell to earth" and were then stuck here while
they tried to "repair" their conveyance.
Orders from their "leader" were to not fraternise with the
"women" of earth. Of course the first thing all these "angels"
did was to mate with every Earth woman they could find.
In the Bible,
Genesis: 6:6, and the "sons of God took the
daughters of men for wives".
The "Book of Enoch" was declared apocryphal, and like the
Book of Seth, and other ancient manuscripts, was denied entrance
into the "approved" version of the original Bible by the Nicene
Council of 325 A.D.
But what is an Apocrypha? The etymology of the term shows that
it is simply a SECRET BOOK, i.e. one that belonged to the
catalogue of temple libraries under the guardianship of the
Hierophants and initiated priests, and was NEVER meant for the
common folk.
Apocrypha comes from the verb "crypto", "to hide". For ages
the "Enoichion" (the Book of the SEER) was preserved in the "city
of letters" and secret works, the ancient Kirjath-Sepher, later on
called the Debir.
Some writers have tried to identify Enoch with Thoth of
Memphis, the Greek Hermes, and even with the Latin Mercury.
As individuals, all these are distinct from one another.
Professionally, if one can use the word, now so limited in
its sense, they belong ONE AND ALL to the same category of sacred
writers, of Initiators and Recorders of Occult and ancient Wisdom.
Those in the "Kuran" (see Surat XIX), generically termed the Edris,
or the "Learned" (the Initiated), bore in Egypt the name of "Thoth",
the inventor of arts, sciences, writing or letters, of music and
astronomy.
Among the Jews, the "Edris" became "Enoch", who, according to
Bar- Hebraeus, "was the first inventor of writing," books, arts,
and sciences, the FIRST to reduce to a system the progress of the
planets.
In Greece he was called Orpheus, and thus changed his name with
every nation! The number Seven was attached to, and connected
with, each of those primitive Initiators, as well as the number
365, of the days in the year, astronomically, it identifies the
mission, character, and the sacred office of ALL those men, but
certainly NOT their personalities!
Enoch is the SEVENTH patriarch;
Orpheus is the possessor of the "phorminx", the
seven-stringed lyre, which is the seven-fold
mystery of initiation.
Thoth, with the seven- rayed Solar Discus on his head, travels
in the Solar boat, the 365 degrees, jumping out every fourth (leap)
year for one day.
Finally, Thoth-Lunus is the septenary god of the seven days,
or the week.
Esoterically and spiritually, "Enoichion" means
"The Seer of the Open Eye".
The story about Enoch, told by Josephus, namely, that he had
concealed under the pillars of Mercury or Seth his precious
rolls or books, is the same as that told of Hermes, the "Father
of Wisdom", who concealed his books of Wisdom under a pillar, and
then, finding the two pillars of stone, found the science
written thereon.
Yet Josephus, notwithstanding his constant efforts to give
Israel unmerited glorification, by attributing the science(Wisdom)
to the Jewish "Enoch", shows the pillars as still existing during
his time. He tells us that they were built by Seth; and so they may
have been, only neither by the Patriarch ofthat name, the fabled
son of Adam, nor by the Egyptian god of Wisdom - Teth, Set, Thoth,
Tat, Sat (the later Sat-an), or Hermes, who are ALL ONE, - but by
the "sons of the Serpent-god",or "Sons of the Dragon", the name
under which the Hierophants of Egypt and Babylon were known BEFORE
THE DELUGE, as were their forefathers, the Atlanteans.
Quetzalcoatl, "the Great White Reformer" (aryan), thought
there were "two totems" in conflict when he took his "aerial
tour" of North America. These conflicting totems were called
the"Wind God" and the "Great Dragon". The Great Dragon easily
turns into the "Sons of the Dragon" and the Wind God easily
transforms into the "Eagle clutching the arrows" that flys on
the wind. Two tribes warring from eons ago.

This is a dead end experiment in "parallel-universe-post-
quantum-back-action" that never really got off the ground.
It all goes back to an ancient beginning to this most recent
of weekends, whereupon I borrowed my "unstuck-in-time" friend's
timeship, that is itself borrowed from "The Greater Mystery".
(Don't ask).
The timeship is about "52' feet in diameter and gun metal grey on the
outside with no door." According to my friend: in "'barrier systems'
it is surrounded by a drone computer ship about 1 1/2 miles long."
I haven't the slightest idea what that means, so I just had to take it
on faith that the thing would navigate thru the various "Light-Mach
jumps" intact. My strange friend says that we live in a 23 Light Mach
system, but to access other dimensions all one has to do is increase
or decrease one's own resonant spin. Allegedly, this ship does all
that automatically, (or so I was told). Okayyyy....
Anyway, I ended up in 200 BCE! Weird. Had to ask directions of this
really old, grey, long-haired, desert-magus-madman type of character.
Said his name was "Enoch". The computer had this on him:
"Very multifaceted, crystaline and hypercubic individual:
'Enoch', so-called 'seventh master of the world', mythic
equivalent of Phoenician Cadmus, Greek Hermes, Egyptian
Thoth, Quetzalcoatl of Mesoamerican myth..."
Enoch is thought to have penned the Kabbalah, Tarot and, natch' the
"Book of Enoch", wherein is described a supposed account of his
visit to the Dark Palace* (see below).
So, great! I figured this would be a good guy to get me out of there,
especially when he was describing all these cold fires, black flames
and other weird stuff from his apocalyptic visions that he just kept
rambling on and on about; I sorta inferred that he was talking about
little light-emitting diodes and electronic devices - things not in
his usual frame of reference, which he would have to approximate in
his wacked-out scholar's, desert-nomadic, socialized semantics way.
Sure, I could flow with that.
Anyway, my big time stupid error was in bringing him back with me.
The old dude is VERY senile, and he completely freaked out over the
entire indoor plumbing system. You would not believe it; especially
the bathroom! When he found out that we urinate and defecate in water
wells, he lost it.
He thinks he's in Hell.
It's understandable. Here's a guy who has spent his entire life in the
desert -- you just don't piss in the water supply, ok? They tend to
cut your head off for stuff like that.
Anyway, his senility was too much for me, so I left him in the timeship
which I returned to my odd friend so he can deal with him. That was
yesterday. I won't even tell you about the alchemist. (At least I got
a lotta sun and exercise)
The Book of Enoch
Composit pseudepigraphic work, sometimes called
1st Enoch (unlike the 2nd -- Slavonic -- Enoch),
completely preserved only in Ethiopic (Ge`ez).
There are also two extensive fragments of the texts
in Greek found in Akhmim in 1886. In addition
several hundreds of Aramaic fragments were
discovered in Cave IV in Qumran in 1952.
This so called Book of Enoch is divisible into five
originally separate portions:
Book I (so called The Book of Watchers) Chapters 1 - 36
Introduction; contemplation of the nature;
descent of two hundreds angels to Earth --
they took human women for their wives,
begot children (giants), led mankind
astray but finally were destroyed by God;
Enoch's journeys in Heavens, Earth and
Underworld.
This may be the most ancient part of
the collection. Dated back to the 3rd
century B.C.E.
Book II (The Book of Parables) Chapters 37 - 71
Description of the days of the Last Judgement;
journey to Heaven; meeting with the Chosen One;
uncovering of all heavenly mysteries.
Dating of the book varies from the 1st half of the first century B.C.E.
to the end of the first century C.E.
Book III (The Astronomical Book) Chapters 72 - 82
Description of revolution of heavenly bodies that showed Uriel the
angel to Enoch.
Qumran fragments of this text are dated to the end of the 3rd of the
beginning of the 2nd century B.C.E. Existence of older Hebrew text is
possible but unsure.
Book IV (The Book of Dreams) Chapters 83 - 90
Vision of destruction of Earth; vision of world history from Adam to
the first days of heavenly Kingdom -- cattle, sheep and other animals
represent main characters and their features.
Aramaic fragments from Qumran corresponding to this texts are dated
to the third quarter of the 2nd century B.C.E.
Book V (The Epistle of Enoch) Chapters 91 - 108
Testament of Enoch; chapter 93:1 - 14 and
91:12 - 17 respectively -- so called
Apocalypse of the Ten Weeks describing
world history from the beginning the Last
Judgement and creation of new heavens.
Dated to the half of the 1st century BCE.
It is not clear when exactly and from which sources
the Ethiopic translation was created. Most probably
both Aramaic and Greek versions were used;
influence (or even existence) of some Hebrew
vorlage was discussed but is still unclear.
* Meanwhile, in another realm of the old apocalyptic's
desert fried cranium:
"And I went in until I drew nigh to a wall which
is built of crystals and surrounded by tongues of fire,
and it began to affright me. And I went into the tongues
of fire and drew nigh to a large house which was built
of crystal.
The walls of the house were like a tesselated floor of
crystals, and its groundwork was of crystal.
Its ceiling was like the path of the stars and the
lightenings, and between them were fiery Cherubim
amidst a background of water. A blazing fire surrounded
the walls, and its portals were covered with fire.
And I entered into that house, and it was as hot as
fire yet as cold as ice. There were no delights of
life therein. Fear covered me, and trembling gat hold
of me. And I quaked and trembled and fell down upon
my face.
[Enoch's further adventures continue, following his visit
to the Dark Palace]:
...From thence I went to another place to the west of
the Earth. And I saw a burning fire which ran without
resting, and paused not from its course day or night
but blazed without respite. And I asked, saying, "What
is this flame which burns unceasingly?" Then Raguel,
one of the holy Angels who was with me, said, "This
is the Dark Fire in the West which persecutes all the
luminaries of Heaven."
Later that same day, while wandering around some foothills,
a lost timeship stops to ask directions back to the late
20th century. Enoch, dumbfounded, wets himself, but at least
manages to point a shaky finger in the correct, general vicinity.
Quicker than a blink, the local universe shrinks to a dot,
disappears and expands elsewhen. Uncomfortably humid, Enoch
thinks up a cool new book idea.

Will the study of consciousness enable quantum information technology?
The nature of consciousness and its place in the universe remain
mysterious. Classical models view consciousness as computation among
the brain's neurons but fail to address its enigmatic features. At the
same time quantum processes (superposition of states, nonlocality,
entanglement,) also remain mysterious, yet are being harnessed in
revolutionary information technologies (quantum computation, quantum
cryptography and quantum teleportation.)
A relation between consciousness and quantum effects has been pondered
for nearly a century, and in the past decades quantum processes in the
brain have been invoked as explanations for consciousness and its
enigmatic features. Critics deride this comparison as a mere
"minimization of mysteries" and quickly point out that the brain is
too warm for quantum computation, which in the technological realm
requires extreme cold to avoid "decoherence" (i.e. the loss of
seemingly delicate quantum states by interaction with the
environment.) However quantum computation would surely be advantageous
from an evolutionary perspective, and biology has had 4 billion years
to solve the decoherence problem and evolve quantum mechanisms.
Furthermore, recent experimental evidence indicates quantum
non-locality occurring in conscious and subconscious brain function,
and functional quantum processes in molecular biology are becoming
more and more apparent.
Much like study of the brain's synaptic connections promoted
artificial neural networks in the 1980's, appreciation of biological
quantum information processing may promote quantum information
technology. Moreover, macroscopic quantum processes are being proposed
as intrinsic features in cosmology, evolution and social interactions.
Following the first "Quantum Mind" conference held in Flagstaff at
Northern Arizona University in 1999, "Quantum Mind 2003" will update
current status and future directions, and provide dialog with
skeptical criticism of the proposed synthesis of quantum information
science and the brain.
