Damien Henderson, a former teacher at McLain Junior High School, has
pleaded guilty in Greene County Circuit Court to child exploitation
for sending sexually explicit text messages to a former student.

Greene County Circuit Court Judge Dale Harkey sentenced Henderson on
Thursday to 20 years, of which he will serve 10 years. Also, Henderson
will be registered as a sex offender and will serve the remaining 10
years on post release supervision, according to the district
attorney's office.

LEAKESVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A former junior high school teacher must
serve 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in Greene County
Circuit Court to a charge of child exploitation.
The district attorney's office says 28-year-old Damien G. Henderson
entered the plea Thursday and was sentenced to 20 years in jail with
10 suspended. After his release, he must serve 10 years of post-
release supervision and register as a sex offender.
Henderson pleaded guilty to sending sexually explicit text messages on
Dec. 18, 2006, to a student at Greene County High School. Authorities
say he offered to meet with the victim to engage in sex acts.

San Dimas Teacher Gets Six Years For Sex Crime
Los Angeles County Sheriff's detectives employed every available
resource, including calling AMW for help, to hunt down accused
pedophile Steven Petralia, who was wanted for the June 2007 kidnapping
and sexual assault of a 15-year-old day laborer in Pomona, Calif.
After an intense and meticulous 10 week search, cops got their break
in the case when detectives obtained Petralia's cell phone number and
looked for him on the Web. According to detectives, a simple Google
search of Petralia's phone numbers turned up an online advertisement
on Craigslist. Petralia was selling Christmas ornaments. Cops set-up
an appointment to supposedly purchase the ornaments, but instead, took
their suspect into custody.
At a Nov. 26 court hearing, Petralia, wearing a hooded gray
sweatshirt, reportedly pleaded not guilty to multiple counts,
including kidnapping, assault and attempting to perform lewd acts on a
minor. Bail was set for $1.3 million.
Then in May 2008, Petralia pleaded no contest to the assault charge
and grand theft charges from an unrelated case. A Los Angeles County
Court Commissioner sentenced Petralia to six years in prison. Once
released, Petralia will have to register as a sex offender, and the
former teacher will never be able to teach again.
In the grand theft case, Petralia and an associate had purchased dogs
from a Valencia, Calif. pet store using fake credit cards.

LITTLE ROCK - The state Court of Appeals on Wednesday upheld the
conviction of a former Greenwood school teacher who was convicted of
having sex with a 14-year-old student.
The court affirmed 40-year-old Deanna Bobo's September 2006 conviction
in Sebastian County Circuit Court on two counts of first-degree sexual
assault. Prosecutors said Bobo had sex with the male student on two
occasions while she was a teacher at Raymond G. Wells Junior High
School in 2005.
Bobo was sentenced to two consecutive six-year prison terms but was
allowed to remain free pending her appeal.

Dion Holton, 32, who taught at Cabrillo High School and was an
assistant coach at Millikan High School, pleaded guilty in February to
two felony counts of oral copulation with a minor under age 16.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - A former teacher in the Finger Lakes region will
spend six months in a county jail for having sex with a student.
William Milham also will spend 10 years on probation. The 37-year-old
Milham pleaded guilty in March to committing a felony sex act. He
admitted having a 15-year-old female student perform oral sex on him
in October 2002.

Waukesha - A former teacher at St. John's Northwestern Military
Academy was sentenced to six months in jail Tuesday after he was
convicted in Waukesha County Circuit Court of repeatedly sexually
assaulting a 10-year-old girl.

Circuit Judge Ralph Ramirez also ordered Craig A. Gullicksen, 59, of
Brookfield, to serve three years' probation. The former music and
computer teacher was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of fourth-
degree sexual assault of a child, but he will not have to register as
a sex offender.

A former Vermont teacher of the year was sentenced Monday to two to 12
years in prison following his guilty plea to a felony sex crime
involving a pre-teen boy.

The sentence for Jeffrey Buehner, 68, of Winooski was imposed in
Vermont District Court in Burlington by Judge Linda Levitt and
followed a plea agreement in which Buehner pleaded guilty to a charge
of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. Five other misdemeanor

GOSHEN – Former McQuade Children’s Services teacher Rebecca Becker was
sentenced Wednesday to three months in the Orange County Jail for
having sex with a teenage boy from the school.
Becker, 29, admitted to the incident and pled guilty to a charge of

ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Lisbon teacher who admitted to having
sex with her 15-year-old student apologized to the victim and his
family during her sentencing.
A St. Lawrence County judge sentenced Christel Gravlin, 33, to 120
days in county jail, as well as 10 years probation. Gravlin told the
court she would never intentionally hurt someone and understands
adults are supposed to know right from wrong, which she failed to do.

SANFORD - -A middle-school social-studies teacher has been sentenced
to 30 months in state prison for having child pornography on his home
computer. Robert Howard Williams, 63, of Sanford pleaded no contest
Thursday to eight counts of possessing child pornography, a felony.
Circuit Judge Marlene Alva sentenced him to the 30 months followed by
six months of house arrest and 10 years of probation.

Boise, Idaho -- Former Borah High School teacher Ron Neil is headed to
federal prison.
Neil was sentenced Wednesday to serve 32 months at a federal facility
in Massachusetts after pleading guilty to possessing images of child
pornography on his school laptop. U.S. District Court Judge B. Lynn
Winmill handed down a minimal sentence, citing Neil had never harmed
or touched a child.

San Diego, California - A 42-year-old special education teacher was
sentenced to three years in federal prison for possession of child
pornography, the result of an investigation conducted by U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Edgardo Vilas, who pleaded guilty in February to federal child
pornography charges, was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Court Judge
Jeffrey T. Miller. Vilas will also be subject to five years of
supervision following his release from prison, in addition to
registering as a sex offender

years in federal prison for possessing child pornography. 49 year old
Scott Southerland will also face lifetime probation once he's released

RANCHO DEL CAMPO, Calif. -- Officials Friday announced that Edgardo
Vilas, a former teacher at Rancho Del Campo, Juvenile Court and
Community School, was sentenced Friday in federal court in San Diego
in connection with a child pornography conviction.
Vilas pleaded guilty on Feb. 12, 2008. Judge Jeffrey T. Miller
accepted Vilas' plea and sentenced him to serve 36 months in custody
and five years of supervised release. Following his release from
prison, Vilas is required to register as a sex offender.
According to the court records, Vilas, 42, said that on or about Jan.
11, 2008, he possessed a computer containing over 600 images of minors
-- some as young as 6 years old -- engaging in sexually explicit
conduct with adults and each other.

Former Pahrump Teacher Sentenced For Child Porn

A former fifth grade teacher in Pahrump has been sentenced to more
than eight years in prison on child porn charges.
Michael Gogerty, 41, was working at Hafen Elementary School in Nye
County when he was arrested last year.
Gogerty pled guilty last month to receiving child pornography over the
Internet.
Police say they found more than 60,000 images of child porn in his Las
Vegas home.

CULPEPER - A former Forest Middle School teacher pleaded guilty
Wednesday afternoon to 12 felony child pornography charges.
Stanley William Deloach, 48, entered his plea in Culpeper County

WABASHA -- A settlement has been reached in a civil lawsuit against a
former teacher who served prison time for sexually touching several
students.
The civil case involving Michael Byron Kurschner, 54, of Winona, was
originally filed under seal in Wabasha District Court in 2003 on
behalf of six minor children. Terms of the settlement approved May 19
remain confidential to protect the privacy of the children and their

Lizama pleads for probation, judge doesn’t buy it

VICTORVILLE — A former Silverado teacher was sentenced to the maximum
prison term Friday for having sex with a 17-year-old student in 2001.
Mark Anthony Lizama, 44, pleaded with Superior Court Judge Eric Nakata
to sentence him to probation only, since he said he has parents that
depend on him and a fiancé that he was getting ready to marry.
“I’m remorseful for any problems I caused her,” Lizama said of the
victim. “I do pray for her your honor.”
The victim’s name is being withheld to protect her privacy, but she
did submit a written impact statement, which was not read in open
court.
“I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a second chance,” Lizama told the
judge. “That’s what I’m asking here.”
Instead Nakata sentenced Lizama to three years and eight months in
state prison, the maximum sentence.

After a five-month delay, a former teacher who pleaded guilty to child
pornography possession will be sentenced May 29.

In mid-January, U.S. District Judge Casey Rodgers delayed the
sentencing of John William McNair, 60, of Cantonment, saying she
wanted him to undergo further psychological evaluation.

in the courtroom Wednesday morning, seeking to modify his probation
requirements.

OKANOGAN — A former Grand Coulee Dam Middle School teacher who last
month admitted having sex with a 15-year-old student was sentenced
Friday to two years and 10 months in prison.

But Vernon E. Heizer, 51, of Nespelem, will not go to prison if he
successfully completes between three to four years of outpatient sex
offender treatment, and complies with other conditions. He served nine

A longtime middle school teacher was charged Tuesday with sexually
molesting five female students, and a prosecutor told a court there
was videotape evidence.
Thomas Arthur Beltran, 60, of Santa Monica, pleaded not guilty to 14
counts during his arraignment in Superior Court. Bail was set at $3.3
million and he remained jailed.
Police arrested Beltran on Saturday after a 12-year-old girl from
Lincoln Middle School in Santa Monica reported the alleged abuse to
her parents. The investigation led to four other girls.

A former Prince William County teacher has pleaded guilty to federal
charges of producing child pornography.
John Byron Shulick, 53, of Catlett, pleaded guilty Friday at U.S.
District Court in Alexandria to taking pornographic pictures and
videos of an underage girl, according to court documents.

JACKSON, Miss. -- A former school teacher was sentenced Friday in a
child porn case, according to officials with the Attorney General’s
Office.
Judge Robert Evans sentenced Rubin Renfrow, 72, to 15 years behind
bars, with 15 years to serve and he must register as a sex offender.

A former Lombard teacher was sentenced to 5 years in prison Wednesday
after pleading guilty to the sexual assault of a teen she had taught
when he was in 5th grade.
Anastasia Pappas, 41, moved in with the victim's family in 2001, after
he graduated from her class and she experienced economic difficulties,
said DuPage County Assistant State's Atty. Thomas O'Connor.

A former student who claims a Carroll middle-school teacher molested
him and showered him with extravagant gifts has sued the district
because, he said, officials did not protect him from the abuse.
Administrators in the Carroll school district did not fully
investigate the suspicious relationship between Robert Dale Rogers, an
eighth-grade literature teacher, and Shayne Wenzel, then a 16-year-old
student, the federal lawsuit alleges.

Fomer high school teacher gets prison for possessing kiddie porn
WHITE PLAINS – A former teacher at Scarsdale High School was sentenced
Friday to four years and three months in federal prison for possession
of child pornography.
Allen Julier of Carmel pled guilty in February to possessing over 100
images and 10 video files in his home computer.
He was sentenced in US District Court in White Plains.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement, State Police and Carmel Police
participated in the investigation that led to Julier’s arrest.

Glenview got 2 years in prison after he pleaded guilty Wednesday to
one count of possession of child pornography stemming from online
chats with an undercover Indiana police detective posing as a 13-year-
old boy, officials said.

Former Winston-Salem coach/teacher pleads guilty to sex charges

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A former basketball coach and substitute teacher
in Winston-Salem has pleaded guilty to committing sex acts with
players.
Hubert Eugene Crosby, 47, pleaded guilty Monday to promoting the
prostitution of a minor, sex offense with a student, indecent
liberties with a child and indecent liberties with a student.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that Judge William Wood Jr.
sentenced Crosby to seven to nine years in prison as part of a plea
deal with prosecutors.
