Here's a list of special and regular characters that can be activated in
any ASCII text system (at least for PCs...)

To type them, hold down the Alt-key, type the number of the character
[20, for example], release the Alt-key and presto:

After 129, they start to get interesting...

BEWARE: ¡¡¡Some of these characters have a way of setting off commands in
some text-editors!!!

Have fun,
Thaddeus

I strongly advise against this.

First, after 128, they are _not_ ASCII anymore --- they are
proprietory to PCs. What you see on PCs is not what you get on other
platforms.

Second, there is a standardized way to use and send out the special
characters. You should use some standardized encoding, such as
ISO-8859-1 Latin 1, and your message header should bear MIME lines
indicating which encoding you use. Only then will your audience with
MIME-capable software see your writing.

Having said those, you do have some freedom of speech --- spew
whatever funny characters you want. Just don't take for granted that
we folks can read them. Bottomline, and I think it makes sense: if we
can't read you, we won't help you.
