I've ordered quite a bit from Dixie Art (especially lately) both on-line
and by phone. I've found them to have excellent service and everything
is always in stock. Prices seem pretty good too. They ship UPS ground
so it always seems to take too long, but that's just because I'm anxious
to get my new toys :o) I have no experience with Bear only because the
selection at Dixie is huge...I haven't needed to look anywhere else.
Make sure you ask for the airbrush supply catalog. BTW - if you order
$45 or more (not hard to do) shipping is free.

Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
Version: 6.0.592 / Virus Database: 375 - Release Date: 2/18/2004
I've used both and don't have a complaint about either one.
Is there a Canadain law that says you have to use only one supplier?
Shop around use which ever has the best deal and if either of those don't
carry what you need, look somewhere else.

Oops...I spoke too soon. I just had my first negative experience with
Dixie. I haven't painted for a week waiting for my order to arrive.
Part of the order was Super Lube. After hearing what you folks said
here, I didn't want to use my brushes again without it. So, the box
arrives, and no Super Lube! The packing list says "out of stock -
please reorder". So now I have to wait and then pay shipping because
that alone won't come to $45. Why couldn't they just call or email me
and ask if I wanted the Badger lube instead?? Not very good customer
service. I'm going to call them in the morning and give them an earful.
What's the web site for Bear?

I'm also in canada, and you have no good options. There seems to be no
airbrushers in canada because there are no airbrush retailers here AT ALL,
at least, no good ones.
Dixie - bad service, they shipped me a cancelled order 6 weeks after I
cancelled it and told me I had to pay shipping both ways to return it. I
refused the package and reversed credit card charges and they conceded.
Also, there is no free shipping to canada no matter what you order, USPS or
UPS, USPS takes 1-2 weeks and costs about $30 CDN.
BearAir - they will ship UPS ONLY. This is fine for the US, but UPS has a
huge scam going in canada whereby they charge huge fees to recieve their
package. Any other couriour will charge you only GST, duty, and a flat $5
customs fee, which goes 100% to CCRA and not the couriour. UPS, however,
lumps it all into one fee, adds on their ridiculous brokerage fee, and
demands it be paid before they release the goods. In some cases their fees
exceed the value of the item shipped, such as a $15 toque I paid $20 to the
delivery guy to recieve. NEVER SHIP UPS AND DONT DEAL WITH COMPANIES LIKE
BEARAIR THAT SHIP UPS ONLY. I told them flat out I wont do business with
them because of their stupid shipping policy. Of course USA citizens dont
mind.
Currys - they're in canada and they'll usually pay for shipping on all but
small orders. Customer service knows nothing about airbrushing and they
usually have to special order airbrushing items even if they're on their
website.
Local shops - can usually speical order airbrushing items, which you don't
pay shipping on and will be marked up a whole lot.
I'd suggest currys, if not go with dixie USPS but make sure you confirm
orders and get everything in writing because they're pretty inept and aren't
willing to do right by their own screw ups.
