Hello,

I'm new not only to that newsgroup but also to the airbrush, i only using
it since about 10 hours or so... and i already have "questions" ! yep so
here i go:

- I've read in that group that some ink can last several years without
changing (their color i suppose) but 1) How do i know that they are like
that ? and 2) how long does they last ? I'm a bit puzzled i studying
ancient artist i know that their painting last at least up to us ! So why
such attention nowadays ? And of course what do _you_ use ?

- I've read that some of you/other artist are chosing 1 brand for the
black color, one other for the white and another one for the colors... why
that ? By the way "what do _you_ use ?"

- I've seen on my gesso (acrylic if that matter) box that it have to be
diluted with a medium...
What is a medium ? How do i know which one to use ? I mean does i need to
get the one from the same brand as the gesso box or is there any medium
that can go with any gesso ?

Well that should be enough for now... i don't want to be boring to anyone
!
Have fun painting,
Fred.

Dear Fred,
First off I'm suprised you'd get into airbrush or for that matter any
painting, without doing some back ground reading on the materials and
hardware. Try Radu's "Complete Studio Handbook" and also try to get an
art school book about art materials. Most of your quwestions would be
answered there.

1)Contact the manufacturer.

2)Artist Quality pigment acrylics should last past your lifetime. The
cheap stuff like createx and many illustration acrylics are short term
dye based products, that aren't made to last. They look great when
first applied, which is important with illustration and Tees.

3) Some Tee-shirt artists like the flow of one colour over another,
that's all.

4) Medium is acrylic resin, which is the bender that holds the pigment
together. Use the brand that makes the gesso. finally, no there isn't

Hello,

First, thanks for your kind reply.

Well in some countries airbrush are not that much considered, for exemple
here "airbrushers" are not considered "artist" but merely "car painter"
i.e. they are part of the "car stuff". I know about the Radu's book, but i
cannot command it from my local bookstore, they said they just cant, so
i'll try over the web, it was already in my "todo list" with others books
too... For your information nobody teach the airbrush here. So i'm on
my own, but i don't mind as i'm used to that, just that sometimes i cannot
"invent" pre-existing reply... Well you get the whole picture now a bit
better.

BTW I regret that i wasn't able to see a single step of the 40 steps from
Hubert de Lartigue, for exemple, as "40 steps" should have been very useful to
me, alas the only thing i got was the number of the step as only message
in each step.

Sorry for my poor english but what the "flow" have to do with the "brand" ?
Do you mean that some brand's color "flow" better over some other brand's
color ?
