Can anyone give me some tips on mixing your own (watercolour based) paint.
I'm a beginner using a hobby set (Revell) and I want to use watercolour as
background. Using ink or dyes mixed with water I get blotches, I don't think
that the viscosity is right. How can I solve this? Can I add salt or sugar
or such?
Or should I just forget about making my own dye's.

please advise.

Tnx

Are you using the correct air pressure for your brush? What about the
needle, is the tip of it damaged? As far as paint goes, you can use Createx
and thin it out with water. A set of primary colors will run about $20 and
you can mix all kinds of colors. Hope this helps.

Hallo Tom
My English is not the best so I hope that I understand your question.

After you added water and the watercolor is solved then let the fluid
run thru a
Filter (like a gaze or nylon stockings or something else .... it must be
a
close-meshed filter).
I filter colors 2-3 times.

With this method I use all kind of colors.

Please tell me your experience with tip-

greetings from Austria

I'm new here but I've been airbrushing for 15 years on anything from wood,
leather, board to plastic and metal. The paint particles need to be as
small as possible for airbrushing... stick to the bought paints as a
beginner. Buy Airbrush magazine www.airbrushmagazine.com and Airbrush
action magazine www.airbrushaction.com for tips and howtos. Great
magazines... I own about 100. I use Createx acrylic paint for almost
everything and you can still mix your own colors, don't forget the flow
enhancer to make spraying smoother for you. Liquitex is best for board,
also an acrylic. Deka sign air paint is best for metal. The magazines I
mentioned have lots of info on paint, airbrush, and compressor comparisons.
Hope that helps.
