Hi Wenz,
Not bad. Makes you stop and look just to make it all out. Was this for
personal pleasure or is it a seller? You can't really fault abstract work
because there's nothing to compare it to.
I've been designing my new works this year in a 3D imaging package and then
I transfer the results to the art board before spraying. Things like
shadows, perspective, mirrored surfaces, reflections, lighting, transparent
objects etc are now a doodle and I think it allows for greater creativity. I
used to shy away from real complex ideas because they were too daunting. See
my new one here http://www.pinupart.2sxy.com/in_progress.htm

Wenz, I think you did a great job. I don't like abstract to easily but as
Paul commented I did take a while to figure this one out and I got to like
it a lot. I had just enough recognizable elements for me to stay interested.

Paul, I took a peek at your work too and to be honest, I liked your previous
paintings better. The pinup looks great but the scene looks too much like a
computer generated scene to me. I have seen many computer generated images
with shadows and reflections (I'm a mechanical engineer and I've been using
3D design software for 8 years now) and especially for this kind of art work
I keep finding it too sterile.

Just my two cents.

Kind Regards,
Ed (a.k.a. Platypus)

Paul,

I have to agree with Platypus on this one. I find it distracting from the pin-up girl!

I guess I just like the Vagas style of backgrounds. Not distracting at all, just

enhances the ladies.

Jerry

Hi ,
I've been doing a few pictures in this cubist/abstract style lately, just
for a change really.
I've never bothered sellin' any of my pics before but I'm seriuosly
considering
doing a few to sell on Ebay just for laugh...even may consider a web page at
long last..
(I maybe asking your advice about html as well in the future:-)
The one you viewed started out as a doodle while watching the football on
the
telly Sat morning...
Also like you say no one can really fault the work they either like it or
they don't...
personally speaking I only like abstract stuff that does make u stop and
look harder also...
There's 'abstract-art' and then there's
'abstract-takin-the-piss-out-of-real-art'.
I'll post a few more later in the week.
I'm on an abstract roll now:-) till I get bored again that is.
Thanks again for the input!
Wenz

Well i need to say that i'm more on the hyper-réalistic wagon, but i do
like this painting, simple but colors and shapes are direct through to the
idea. It reminds me of a picture of a championship with the tree guys
exactly in that position.
I do believe it can be sold.

As you asked for... :)
I'm on the same side with Platypus for this one, too "empty cubic
plastic-like that don't shine" for my taste, note well the "for
my taste".
But i do love the "Be Mine" heart idea ! :)

Maybe you should practice more the computer part if you like that way of
doing your (mixed) work... For someone like me, having 14 years of
computer rendered images/animations, well it do looks naive. Don't take
it bad, it's just my impression ! - for the cube part i mean: the
proportions, the thickness, (default setting) colors of the 3D objects...

Well i do hope that my remarqs are enough constructives for you.

The cube one was hand drawn and not rendered on the computer first. The
cubes are meant to look like the same color as the board with just some
simple shading. The painting sold as soon as it went up for sale and I get
people who love the idea and some who prefer my older stuff. Be Mine was the
first painting I've done using the computer idea first. It's mainly a tool
to experiment with lighting and shadows rather than anything else as these
are very complex things to draw correctly and precisely especially when
looking at something face on like in my paintings as your light source is
out in mid air so to speak which makes things twice as hard.

Wow, really you got me there, i really thought it was, good job !

Now that you are a "known artist" (i don't know if it's the right
expression in English), do you still have any problem to sell your
art ? I'm not talking about that painting in particular but of all your
recent paintings.

Yes, it _is_ a good idea.
(I think that having experiences and knowledges in several fields can never
hurt someone.)
