rabbits: picking them up and holding them??????

My father has been picking up our american blues by the skin on the back of their necks. I tell him they don't like to bne picked up that way(as they struggle to break free!).I keep telling him not to pick them up like that and i constantly try demonstrating the proper way (in my opinion)to pick them up. by grabbing them,holding them next to your body,and putting together their legs and at the same time keeping them comfotably proped up.How should you really hold and pick them up?????????
