Hello Khrystyna! I find it hard to believe what the lawyers are
telling you, but then again California can always be different!! If
this friend you are staying with is friend of your family and they know
you are staying with him (with their approval), then you probably aren't
going to have a problem. The question in my mind is just who do you
think would turn this friend in for statutory rape?? And why??
My long years of experience, as a children's rights advocate, in
Oklahoma has taught me that most lawyers don't know squat about
children's rights. Whether it is adoption, foster care, or
emancipation. In fact "Child Rights" is kind of a newly developing area
in the law. Until recently, most states gave more rights and protection
under the law to animals than they did children. The few states who in
the last couple of years have started rewriting such laws are using the
animal rights laws as a guideline for children. Yeah, that sounds weird
doesn't it! Anyway what I think you need to do is find a local or state
child advocacy association or institute, talk to one ofd their
advisors. These type of organizations usually have lawyers as members
who provide free services to youths like you, and these guys will be
more knowledgeable about your type of problem!
I will check my resource guides and see what I can find for
California. It would help if I knew what part of California you live in
so I can narrow it down, but it isn't neccessary in case disclosing your
area or location would be a problem or make you nervous.

Keep the faith, it will all work out!

Are you the same Roger Keith Henton who was convicted and sentenced to 777 years in prison for sexual abuse of minors and child pornography?
