Girl's Mom Said She Refused to Take a Shower; Town's Mayor Calls for
Investigation

(AP) The mayor of a small Arkansas town wants an independent
investigation on whether it was appropriate for a police officer to
use a Taser on an unruly 10-year-old girl who kicked him in the groin.
Mayor Vernon McDaniel says he wants Arkansas State Police or the FBI
to look into whether the use of the Taser was proper. The girl, who
hasn't been identified, wasn't hurt and is now at the Western Arkansas
Youth Shelter in Cecil.
Ozark police were called to the home Nov. 11 after the girl's mother
couldn't get the child to take a shower.
Ozark Police Chief Jim Noggle, who has defended the officer's action,
didn't immediately return a call for comment Wednesday morning.
He probably deserved it. If a big, string, butch policeman can't
restrain a ten-year-old girl without resorting to violence and use of
a weapon, he's in the wrong job.

She called the police because the girl wouldn't get in the shower?
What sort of a mother is she? She certainly can't look after children.

You ever try to resrain a beligerant kid? To control them you will leave
bruises, and wind up with a few yourself.

Apparantly you have never encountered a stubborn kid. Parents are told
NOT to disipline their kids when they are little and this is what happens
when they get older.
Bull shit! I have had to restrain out-of-control adolescents (though
rarely). Take a class in passive restraint (a class that every cop should
have to take). The first thing that you learn is that you need to
de-escalate the child.

Bull shit! Parents are not told not to discipline their children! Not
when they are little and not when they are 10-years-old. And who do you
think suggested to this woman that she call the police when her daughter
wouldn't take a shower??? The police should have told her deal with it
herself or, better yet, just hung up on her!
The best way to "de-esculate " a beligerant child is with a Cat-O-Nine Tails
or a couple of good swats on the butt so they quickly learn who the boss is.
It sure worked in my parents generation. I and my peers knew what would
happen if we mouthed off to a parent or teacher. We learned obediance and
respect at an eary age, something today's youth lack greatly.

Why the complaint? I focus on what I found very offensive about your
post. And the news is plastered all over the web, a quick google will
find you the news piece.
Nice try to divert attention from the issue at hand, which is that you
apparently advocate the use of physical discipline of children, which is
known to have negative effects on the individual in adult life.

To say physical discipline of a child will have negative effects on an
adult's
life is lubricious. It's the lack of physical discipline as a child the has
the
negative effects on many adults. In fact it is showing up in the lives of
many
of our youth, committing crimes that were unheard of in older generations.
Discipline enforced with corporal punishment when necessary, teaches
children that certain behaviors are unacceptable and not tolerated.
