Cathy Garger has so little knowledge about the subject that she fails
to realize that she has been bamboozled by "Doctor Rokke" - who does
have a doctorate from the University of Illinois, but it has nothing
to do with depleted uranium - it is in Vocational Education - his
thesis is "Perceived physics concepts needed to teach secondary
technology education as general education" and his Masters thesis,
also in vocational education was even more closely related to DU,
which he had not even ever encountered at that time 1986 before he was
commissioned as a Second Lieutenant US Army Reserve. The Master's
thesis is titled " The necessity and educational acquisition of
selected vocational skills by Food Science graduates"

Rokke presents himself as being an expert physicist who was specially
called up by the Army to go to Southwest Asia and clean up the DU
problem - in reality, First Lieutenant Douglas Lind Rokke, US Army
Reserve Medical Service Corps was activated with his unit to report to
Fort McCoy, Wisconsin and subsequently ordered to Saudi Arabia. While
in Saudi Arabia, Rokke was trained by a Certified Health Physicist
civilian employee from the Rock Island Arsenal and was left behind
after the civlian team had gone home to oversee the contractor Chem
Nuclear Systems, Inc.'s employee and local laborers prepare Bradley
Fighting Vehicles for shipment back to the United States for
decontamination. Rokke also was part of a two man team that flew up
to Iraq and dealt with the results of a tank fire (the tank caught
fire, it was not fired on) that had exploded DU kinetic energy
penetrator munitions and that soldiers were working around without any
type of protection. Rokke treated some of the soldiers, including a
colonel, who had gotten cuts and had DU contamination in the wounds.
Rokke cleaned the wounds and checked to see that they were free of DU
contamination before closing them up with Bandaids and Steri Strips.
The report of this trip by the civilian Health Physicist who
accompanied Lieutenant Rokke is being posted to the DUStory Yahoo
Group -- (why DU story, because it is quite a story that has been
woven by Rokke, Moret, Garger, Bertell and others who profit from
their personal appearances, begging for donations, DVD and book sales;
they all are in it for the money, even OpEdNews, where Garger posts
this garbage has dozens of advertisements and begs for donations via
PayPal to the International Humanities Center which forwards the money
on to Rob Kall) (I am not only not in this for the money, it costs me
money to have this intense hobby of trying to beat back the anti-
depleted uranium crazies and con artists - Why do I do that? Because
I fear that some Arab kid perhaps as yet unborn will believe them and
decide that he or she will pay the US back for poisoning the lands
forever - we can not afford to take that chance, a crude nuclear
weapon or a dirty bomb will destroy the American way of life)

Rokke complained about Vieques to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
which not only gave Rokke a chance to be heard, but also thoroughly
investigated the allegation and found that one Marine aircraft had
accidentally fired less than 300 rounds of DU munitions that impacted
Vieques Island. DU always was a smokescreen on Vieques and you can
read the NRC report at DUStory as well (you can go read it in the
ADAMS system at the NRC, but it is easier to find at DUStory)

Back to Rokke the phonie. Lieutenant Rokke came home, went back to
the University of Illinois and wrote his thesis with that exciting
title using the Delphi method to query a number of teachers about how
to teach and apparently was not particularly successful at finding a
job. He did get promoted to Captain in the Army Reserve which is
significant because it means that Lieutenant Rokke was contrary to his
current claims, healthy when he returned after being exposed to all of
this deadly depleted uranium. Everyone that Rokke worked with in
Southwest Asia with depleted uranium is healthy too. Not a single one
of them has any symptoms of being poisoned by this ubiquitous
chemical. You want to read one even better yet - go to the Goiana,
Brazil report in DUStory's links section (you don't even have to join
to read that); four people died because they improperly handled a
really nasty radioactive substance that had been improperly disposed
in a garbage heap. Two of the young men, though, after being treated
for the radiation, not only had healthy sperm, they had healthy normal
children. Go read that report - it shows what a real radiation burn
looks like, what happens when truly harmful radiological material gets
loose and that it can kill. DU only kills the people who are in the
targeted tank and sometimes even some of them live with no
consequences. The VA has been tracking some of them since the end of
the Gulf War in 1991 and none of them have had any health consequences
despite their not only being exposed to the so-called Deadly Dust
(another DVD that masquerades as a documentary just like the latest
Contaminated Forever by Wesley Rehberg who parades Rokke as some sort
of military whistleblower and Rokke is really only a con artist who
likes free meals, hotel rooms and travel and probably does not report
a cent of this to the IRS) but also carrying little pieces of DU
shrapnel in their bodies since the war.

Back to Rokke, I do get sidetracked - there are so many aspects -
Rokke passed his physicals certifying that he was healthy enough to
remain in the Reserves and get promoted and Captain Rokke, having a
doctorate in Education, was selected for a one-year tour at the Army
Chemical Corps School at Fort McClellan, Alabama. According to his
boss, Rokke was the liaison officer with a contractor developing DU
training materials for the Army. Rokke calls this being the Director
of the Army's DU program. Those of you who are Army know that Army
Reserve Captains are not directors of Army-wide programs. Those
training materials were flawed and were not used. Rokke, though left
active duty and stayed at the school as a GS-13 civilian and was let
go during the probationary period. According to one eyewitness who I
interviewed by e-mail, Rokke curled up in a ball on the steps and
cried. He was a real man about the whole thing. He did, however,
manage to stay in the area; there was a need for an Assistant
Professor at Jacksonville State University a few miles up the road and
Rokke did teach in some capacity at that institution for a brief
period of time. Since then, Rokke does not appear to have used his
doctorate for anything other than to impress the anti-depleted uranium
crusader hangers on like Garger that he Rokke is a brilliant man who
knows all about DU and how it is not only bad for you, but downright
deadly, the scourge of the earth. It certainly does beat being a
substitute school teacher in Rantoul, Illinois; there surely is no
glamor in that.

Sometime after 1998, Rokke was promoted to Major in the Army Reserve
and in September 2003 Major Rokke was transfered to the retired
reserve for non-participation. I did not get the promotion order in
the documents that I obtained by filing a Freedom of Information Act
(FOIA) request using the Standard Form 180 that the Swift Boat gang
was always demanding of John Kerry so I don't know when Rokke was
promoted to Major. I just know that the retirement order, which I
did get, retired Major Rokke, not Captain Rokke so the Army Reserve
somehow decided Rokke deserved to be promoted and then soon after
realized that they had made a mistake and kicked him out. Now, we
know that Rokke served 12 more years in the Army Reserve after being
released from Desert Storm and if he were sick, he would have been
retired from the Army Reserve before he was promoted to Major. Now,
do you wonder if Rokke is making up this bit about being sick and
dying from having been recklessly exposed to DU while in Southwest
Asia? I certainly would!

Cathy, go take a freshman science class - maybe that's too advanced
for you and you should try high school instead - you write well - but
don't know anything to actually write about and Rob Kall is totally
oblivious to that - he claims he has editors - not a single one of
them has fact checked anything about DU, false casualty reports or
other wondrous things that you expose to the world through OpEdNews

Files Section to read the Rokke, Moret, Durakovic and other files -
they should be an education if you have been following any of this
cast of characters or are worried about depleted uranium (DU)
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/DUStory/message/55 (and there will
be a new message soon with a more update links list since I have added
half a dozen or more since January) is a publicly available message -
no password - just click on the links and go to the websites and read
- it has a number of articles, scientific reports, etc. about uranium,
radiation and depleted uranium (DU)
