Also, taxpayers provide a large part of the funding for "universities"
which have become a sort of glorified trade school. Taxes help
pay for a large chunk of what amounts to job training (e.g. majors
in computer science, accounting, business management, etc.). Then,
the final kick in the pants occurs after the taxpayers and parents
have funded this job-training -- the corporations decide that they
no longer need people with the particular skill. For example, the
overflow of MBAs churned out in the 80s that business no longer
needs.
