Eleven men have been arrested following a three-day child solicitation
sting by investigators in Johnson County who posed as as minors online,
officials said.

Sheriff’s officials said the sting involved detectives creating fake
profiles on websites and making it “very clear” the profile is for a
minor. The adults messaged the profiles and traveled to meet whom they
thought was a teenager, officials said.

Franklin police and a lieutenant from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office
assisted in the sting. The cases have been forwarded to the Johnson County
Prosecutor’s Office for review.

The case is the third child sex solicitation sting operation conducted in
Johnson County in the last two years. In 2020, 10 people were arrested in
connection to a three-day operation. Last year, eight men were arrested in
another sting.

Sheriff Duane Burgess in a statement said the office will continue similar
operations in the future.

"Parents need to be very vigilant in reviewing the sites that their
children are visiting whether on their computers or mobile devices,"
Burgess said in a news release about the arrests. "You must be diligent in
this process in order to protect them from the evil that exist on these
sites and social media."

The Sheriff’s Office said seven cases involving people arrested in
previous stings in Johnson County have been resolved via plea deals. Two
more people, the office added, are scheduled for guilty plea hearings.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office on Monday announced the following men
have been taken into custody as part of the sting operation:

Jeff Hendricks, 49. Charged with suspicion of child solicitation and
resisting law enforcement.
