ARRESTS MADE IN J. MICHAEL BLOOM CASE
Guild's Efforts Garner Results

NEW YORK, April 17 2000 - As a result of a complaint filed by Screen
Actors Guild earlier this year, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern
District of New York announced the arrest today of former J. Michael
Bloom & Associates comptroller Owusu Kissi on charges of mail fraud,
stemming from his alleged embezzlement of funds held in trust for SAG
members by the now-defunct talent agency.

Anthony LeGrand, Executive Administrator of SAG/NY Agency Relations
Department and key figure in the Guild's Bloom efforts, credits SAG
counsel David Alter for the positive progression of this matter.
"David has been vigilant in working to both help former Bloom clients
recover losses and create a deterrent against the inappropriate use
of performers' monies by others," said LeGrand. "The pursuit of this
matter and prevention of similar situations remain at the top of the
Guild's priority list."

"Many of our members suffered directly from the alleged embezzlement
of $400,000 from the trust," added John Sucke, SAG/NY's Executive
Director. "We are happy that the Justice Department has seen this as
an extremely serious matter and has acted on the information we
provided. SAG Talent Agency regulations require the highest level of
care from agents handling money for performers. Violations of this
magnitude are truly criminal and must be prosecuted."

Why would anybody repeatedly censor this site, it doesn't contain
anything worth muzzling. Censorship is evil.

And I certainly agree with Pete's by-line: Why would anybody
complain about the need to solve crime? Maybe, if this is posted
often enough, they'll understand the fact that you cannot censor
the Internet.
