His personal imperfections notwithstanding, I like John Lennon's music
quite a bit and was seriously bummed out when he was killed.

As someone else around here is fond of saying, who cares about an
artist's opinions or personal life? All that matters is what comes out
of your speakers.

There's a new movie about Lennon's 1950s days, it's called Nowhere
Boy.

Yeah, I've heard about that. It sounds interesting. I just it's not an
overly reverent treatment of its subject.

Nice! I hope that film plays in my neck of the woods, or is at least
picked up by Netflix.

I have seen 'Soulboy' at the cinema, in the UK.

It's set in Stoke on Trent c. 1974, with several scenes at a recreated
Wigan Casino. The plot is c. 1874 or earlier and some of the dialogue
could have been better written but there are some good performances and
it's an excellent period piece, much better than might be expected from
its tiny budget.

If you're interested in Northern Soul or, indeed, Stoke on Trent ;-),
then give it a try.

Any Stoke football in the plot? I've read that Ramblers had a bit
of success in that period.

The English tourist visiting Wales stopped for lunch at
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch. He
ordered his meal, then asked the girl behind the counter "Would you
say the name of where we are, slowly for me, please?"

She looked at him strangely and, then with utmost patience - as one
must when dealing with the English - recited syllable-by-syllable:

"MAC-DON-ALD-S"
