For modeling realistic characters for architecture drawings I have think
to put some money for Poser 4 (and Poser 4 Pro Pack). What I was
wondering - is new 3D Studio Max 4 IK-system and modeling environment
(with included Character Studio plug-in) already all what I need?

Any comments is Poser 4 plug-in something what helps and makes character
modeling faster or is it a toy? Is there any other character tools or
plug-ins?

Poser 4 is more of a toy, the models look like Poser models, you can't get
away from that.

If all you need is a generic person then its fine, but if you want to make
something your own, then you're better off starting from scratch.

I imagine Poser will be ok for little stand-in figures in your architecture
drawings.

You have another option which you should think about tho. Real People is
great for putting people into scenes and these can even be walking people
(http://www.archvision.com/software.html). This plug-in is specifically
designed with your needs in mind. They have a few movies in their gallery
which is probably just what you had in mind.

best,
cory

Thanks, I did not know that RealPeople-link. It might return on that,
because we are using Microstation CAD-systems also. Still images looks
nice.

For 3D Studio MAX plug-ing I have decide to try Poser. In this project I
have to put characters to do all kind of things in factory - so it's
important that I have control for moving arms and legs. Now I just have
to figured out where can I get right clothes for those figures (maybe I
do it those my-self) - hmm.. maybe nude characters might increase the
interest for factory plans :)
