The fridge now has a prominent message on the top of its door: "NEVER,
EVER put tomatoes in the fridge!".

The use of an ink-marker is deliberate, it will probably stain the paint
indelibly. The sticker I put there had been removed by some twat.

Despite telling carers of this Cardinal Rule (no-one expects...) today I
found that this dictum, nay, diktat had been violated, and a whole tray
of salad tomatoes is now only fit for frying - at best. (And really only
fit for the compost heap)

For those as don't know, if the temperature of a tomato drops as low as
6°C it loses its flavour.

Now to dig in the freezer to find something to fry with them.

BTW, also a no-no for refrigerating are: avocados; unripe fruit;
bananananas. But for different reasons.

Marks and Spencer put their tomatoes in the fridge, don't
buy toms from Marks & Sparks.

Easy peasy. Bananas are berries, as are tomatoes. Peanuts are legumes,
as are peas and beans. Their USP is that the seeds develop underground.

For those as is interested, peanut plants make a rather interesting

Verb, to angle for something, properly a fish. Also applies to netting
with a trawl or drift-net, or bottom-set long net, or a pot or creel
which has an easy entrance but prey-confusing exit.

With 'for': any means of trapping or ensnaring any creature, or desired
object, such as 'compliments' or Biblically, 'Men'¹

Colloquially, to attempt to catch anything or anyone by presenting bait
of some sort.

Related words: ghoti, phish, -fish, as in crayfishing

¹ In that context, may contain women

According to the Torah, an edible fish is any animal that lives in the
water and has fins and scales.

But according to other definitions it needn't have scales, and maybe
fins? Does the lamprey have fins.

Edibility doesn't come into the definition for us goys.

Ignoring dietary prejudices, I'd say that gills and no legs would be the
best definition I can think of. With the exception of mud skippers,
which have stumpy sort-of-legs with fins on the end.

Allegedly evolutionarily closer to amphibians than to ray-finned fish
like herrings &c.
