Is there a simple way to reset ALT-F back to scratch?

After 6 months of fiddling with it I'm ready to hide it away in my network closet and forget about it. I think I'd like to start fresh with the 1.0 Snapshot. I'm still sitting at 0.5RC and have tweaked and fiddled with alot.

So I'm wondering what makes the most sense? I am backing my data up just in case something goes horribly wrong but I've been afraid to start the Firmware Updater in case the only options are to upgrade. I'd rather the 1.0 install be as clean as possible even if that means I have to go back to the D-link firmware first -- although it would be nice if I can keep the RAID mirror intact and not have to re-copy the files back.

Anyone have a simple way to ensure that my 1.0 install loses all of the boogers from my 0.5 hacking?

Thanks,
kK

Flash settings handling:

Don't erase flashed settings

Erase all flashed settings (the box IP might change)

Erase all flashed settings and flash new settings from defaults file (factory settings, the box IP might change)

Erase all flashed settings and recover the last flash settings from vendors backup (the box IP might change)

One of these is the "right" choice perhaps?

Alt-F is a hybrid mutant, kind of Resident Evil (but without Milla); it relies on "settings" saved on flash memory, and on disk, so to start Alt-F as if it were the first time it runs on your box you have to "clear settings" and remove Alt-F traces from disk before rebooting or reflashing.

-Remove the Alt-F instalation from disk first, Packages->Alt-F -- that can be difficult or impossible, as it is probably being used. So the best is to deactivate it from boot and reboot; after the reboot you can remove/delete/rename the installation. Deactivation means creating a file named 'NOAUFS' in the Alt-F folder and rebooting.
-After that succeeds, remove or rename the Users folder to something else
-After that remove or rename the Public folder to something else
-Then "Clear Setting" and reboot

Alt-F will then run the first login wizard
