I hope I have not really done a number on my DNS-323. I could use some help, I am new to this so be patient.
I have a DNS-323 B1 revision with 2 1TB hard drives. I was using the D-Link web interface with no problems but wanted to try ALT-F.

I followed the instructions for installing ALT-F over top of the D-Link Firmware. It worked but I did get the not enough memory error when saving the settings.
My NAS was set with a static IP address. I was able to telnet in no problem.
I wanted to use ALT-F so I used the D-Link web interface to flash with the ALT-F firmware.
It reported that the firmware installed correctly.
When it was done I went back in and it showed the D-Link web interface again.
I restarted through the D-Link web interface and that is when all the problems started.

The NAS now is inaccessible. The power light is steady and both drive led lights are a steady amber.
If I press and hold the power button the drive lights flash indicating that ALT-F is installed (according to the help I found) but I can't access it.
I have tried to ping it but there is no entry for it on my routers DHCP. My local network is 192.168.0.*

I don't care about the data on the drives as I backed them up before I started the upgrade (Glad I did) I just want to be able to access it again.
What should I do?

Thanks in advance, I hope I gave enough information.

then Alt-F is using that IP address  and not doing a DHCP request. No matter if "running on top" or flashed.

I was able to telnet in no problem.

clear the browser cache and try again.

you was using RAID and it is degraded.

If the above doesn't work, you have the back button last resort, read the wiki about buttons and leds. After clearing settings and rebooting a DHCP request will be made.

the data is OK.
You might want to activate the write intent bitmap to the raid, to avoid the degraded state. (Disk->RAID)

as I backed them up before I started the upgrade (Glad I did) I just want to be able to access it again.

I think so.
