Never had this error. Anybody has?
What directory have you specified for the Debian install? Is there enough space available?

As it works for me, I need some more detais in order to fix it.
The unable to decompress can only be caused by lack of /tmp space.
-Do you have at least one swap partition setup? (Alexander at least has)
-What amount of Swap appears in the status page, section System?
-what is the output of the command 'df -h' on the command line?
-Are you specifying an install path such as /mnt/sda2 or /mnt/md0 (you should) or a deeper one?
Thanks

I have the same issue with debian. I tried different mirrors and
partitions. After several attempts it fails with error about lack of
space.

I said /mnt/md0, but currently Debian doesn't kexec from raid; chroot shouldn't be a problem.

That should be the problem, filesystems mounted by label.
Please try to intall on filestems without label. I knew that this
could be a problem, but forgot to fix it.
That's why it is important to record issues in the Issues section of
the code site.

Swap is important, but mainly because it increases /tmp size to 64MB.
That should be related to the inahbility to decompress.

Having swap on usb pens is not a good idea: it is slow writing, and
wears out the flash chip inside the pen. Alt-F sets all swaps with the
same priority, so reading and writing is done almost in parallel to
all swap devices.
