Dropbear adds an error to the system log complaining about "/var/log/wtmp" being missing every time I connect via ssh

Every time I log in to the NAS using ssh, Dropbear adds an entry to the system log stating that it cannot find a file (and sure enough, the file does not exist). The full log line is:

Feb 26 10:06:36 DNS-323 authpriv.warn dropbear[2611]: wtmp_write: problem writing /var/log/wtmp: No such file or directory

Does anyone know if I should just create the file, or whether it is best left alone?

Thanks!

I have the same symptoms. The code for dropbear appends login records
to the end of /var/log/wtmp but doesn't create the file if it doesn't
already exist. I just created an empty wtmp file with "touch /var/log/
wtmp" and all seems to be OK.

A more permanent solution might be to update /etc/init.d/S62dropbear.
After line 30:

if ! test -e /var/log/lastlog; then touch /var/log/lastlog; fi

insert a new line:

if ! test -e /var/log/wmtp; then touch /var/log/wtmp; fi

You are right.
I don't remember this being an issue before, and dropbear changelog
doesn't show anything new related -- perhaps the previous busybox
created the file.

Do you mind filling-in an issue report, so I don't forget fixing it?

Thanks
