Thank you for your work and assistance,  João Cardoso.

Bought mine lots of years ago primarily for local backups and it ran fine. First thing I encountered was disk size limits. Alt-F added many features as well and ran along side all my other storage for many more years. Finally, it was relegated to offline storage but I moved that archive to cloud storage.

Gave away the 323 with the links to the forums, so it still lives on - just not with me.

It would have been e-waste long ago without Alt-F.

Thanks for all the help along the way.

Sincerely,
Rich

I want to echo this thanks whole heartedly... At a time when I could not find better, Alt F bought me time (a lot of time)
I am very grateful.. In fact as I was transitioning my files the DNS 320 finally kicked the final bucket.
I'll try to revive it when I have time if that's at all possible.

@João Cardoso
You are an unsung hero, I salute you. I'll hunt around for that donation link that I think I saw somewhere

Thank you Rich and Nicolas for your gentle words. Much appreciated.

Time goes by and we have to move on with it. I'm also decommissioning
my DLink boxes for an all-ssd (expensive mistake) mini pc NAS -- no,
I'm not porting Alt-F to it :-)

Thanks,
João

It's all more than deserved my friend. I will also add that on top of having built Alt F which certainly delayed e-waste by years tangibly, you were also giving your time to support us newbies when we did something stupid.
I wish I had half your talent at coding. Hope you are enjoying a good job!

An all SSD mini PC in that NAND shortage may make you rich in 2 years haha XD
I recently built my main home server, really enjoying services like immich, jellyfin, etc
Specs are
i5 13500
64GB ECC RAM (bought pre-RAM cataclysm thankfully)
4x12TB drives (That I've been hoarding for like 10 months waiting for the build - thank God)
2x 2TB nvme SSDs as cache
Running unraid very smoothly in a 40-60W envelope at the wall, love it!

I also built a ODROID H4+ to act as a 'backup server' for main services, it's built but I'm not able to source some HDDs at decent price so we'll see.

Anyway, I hope this group survives and new and old Alt-F users can keep in touch on and off :)
