Hello,

Hope someone can help.  I have a DNS-323 - A1 Alt-F1.0 kernel 4.4.86

I was trying to get a win 10 PC to see the NAS, I turned on SMB 2.0 on, rebooted the DNS, no luck with seeing the NAS, turned SMB 1.0 off and rebooted the DNS.  On the restart the DNS could not be found o the network. No IP shown as connected looking at the router. Couldn't ping the old IP address. Tried a few reboots and the LEDs on the DNS looked like it was alive but nothing showing, can't ping, SSH, IP Scanner.  I removed one of the drives and factory reset the DNS. Tried SMB 1.0 and 1.0 and 2.0 together. It is two 1TB drives set as EXT2 Raid 1. I can now see DNS and the status page, Shut down and replaced the second drive, rebooted. I can see the RAID and the status page shows the space taken up with the data. But I can't see any folders looking from a Win7 PC.  I am scared that I am going delete all my data if I go randomly changing settings.
Desperate to keep this data, you know all the photos of the kids growing up etc!!
I have a spare DNS-323 that hasn't got Alt-F on it, if that helps?
Any suggestions for saving the data?
Thank you in advance
Simon

Sounds like you need the wsdd2 package, is it installed (on the NAS!)?

When Ms deprecated SMB1 they removed some functionality relating to discovering SMB shares,
SMB1 on Alt-F is (reported to be!) fixed, as it also is on Linux, but running it on any version of Windows is too risky, Ms never added the fixes to SMB1.
There was a recent topic about getting a much newer version of SMB working, but wsdd2 with the standard SMB2 in Alt-F should be OK.

Thank you Jon,

After a re-boot of the DNS and waiting a couple of hours I can now see Pictures via miniDNLA, the DNS is still busy with a process, I think to do with DNLA. I have no idea if this validates the SMB settings?
I have had a look through all the settings that I can see and can't find anything referencing wsdd2.  I will search this forum and see if I can educate myself :)

Thanks for your help.

Oh another question, would you suggest I remove one of the mirrored drives to protect the data? In case I do something daft!

Apologies, I have found the issue.....User error
When searching for wsdd2 in the forum I came across this post...my table was empty.  Everything looks fine again in Win7. Still working on getting connected to a Win11 PC
