I have been wanting to install owncloud and a torrent client on my
DNS323 for awhile and have finally gotten around to it (the owncloud
part, still trying to understand what my options are for torrent
clients).
One of the two issues I am having (latest issues?) is accessing
owncloud from outside my local network.
I'm afraid that you need to forward port 8080 or 8443 in your router to the nas.
As owncloud is intended to be accessible from the outside, it could have a upnp client to automatically open and direct the port, as Transmission does.
Better check in ownCloud site the details.
I have been looking at various URL
redirecting services but they all seem a bit excessive, or come with
strings attached, or (most importantly) don't seem like their clients
would be something i could run/install on ALT-F...
but then again there
seems to be a ton of services out there so any recommendations of
services, or better options than URL redirection services would be much
appreciated!
Second, torrents. I currently use utorrent and like
it quite a bit however this requires that i keep my computer on all the
time which seems silly if i can just run this on my DNS323 as it will be
staying on all the time once i get owncloud accessible from the
outside). I noticed that FFP has a "btpd" package which seems a bit
spartan (I'm one of those that checks torrnets all the time and like a
GUI), and ALT-F has transmission the package which seems to have an ok
webGUI control option,
Don't know others.
