Is anyone out there using scripts with Transmission on an Alt-F box? I know it's possible to have a script run on torrent completion but I have no idea how to do it. What I want to do is have the file copied automatically do a separate folder (not just moved to the Finished folder) and I wish to run one of the many scripts that removes the torrent after a set number of days. Basically I want to make my Transmission installation self maintaining. Anyone with knowledge of doing this on the Alt-F DNS-323, please chime in...

Probably you want to install Alt-F CouchPotato2 package. It does all you want and even finds the torrent for you, just give it the movie name :-)

But this is not an Alt-F specific question, better ask on Transmission or Couchpotato forums.

I'll look into couchpotato2. I asked here because I figured that the transmission daemon was special for Alt-F.

Transmission on alt f is pretty standard .  Scripts should run fine, so you can give the ones you are talking about a try following the instructions you find with them

That's the problem.  I haven't found much in the way of directions on how to use them.....

It the settings.json file there is a post processing script flag that must be set to true. And then a script location that is where the script is stored.   You will need to make sure the script is set to executable as well.

Hopefully this points you in the right direction (I'm not near a computer to dig up detailed instructions )

It's better than what I've come across so far. I'm not a Linux guru so the stuff written for Linux guys goes over my head pretty quick.

Found the settings.json file but it won’t let me edit it. Going to have to figure out the Busybox shell and edit it from there I guess. Looked at CouchPotato and SickBeard, not sure I want to get into all of that….

Be sure to shut down transmission first of the changes won't stay .

To edit you will probably need to be root ( use sudo or login as root or whatever method busybox needs)
