I am not sure why but the default IP address is 192.168.1.32 OK I have nearly given up on the unit so maybe it isn't 32.

But Please! How can i change the default IP address because my unit keeps reverting back to the default firmware every reboot.  I have to change the IP4 segment to match the NAS and then change it to my LAN segment which is (like everyone's) 192.168.0.etc

How can I?  Please before I throw it into my bathwater.
Thank you
Jim Nielsen

Hey Jim

Can you elaborate on "my unit keeps reverting back to the default firmware every reboot"? You mean it loads the settings of some default firmware?

I would first have a look at settings in Alt-F:

1. What is displayed in the drop-down list under "Select one"? Nothing or a bunch of .tgz?

2. After you click on SaveSettings, does a new entry appear in the drop-down?

3. Have you, in the past, tried ClearSettings or FormatFlashSettings?

You forgot to ask:
4. Are you using a static or a dynamic (DHCP) IP setup?
5. What is your box model?

Do you remember if when using the D-Link firmware the box IP was a static one and the same that now insists on reappearing after a reboot?
If that is true, it is possible that Alt-F is reading and using a D-Link flash-stored file with that static IP value(*). That file can be removed from flash memory by using "FormatFlashSettings"; you should afterwards use "SaveSettings"  to save the current in-use settings.
In any case, doing  "FormatFlashSettings" followed by "SaveSettings"  does no harm and is worth trying.

(*) so new users migrating from D-Link will have the same static IP they are used to.
