Hello

I installed ALT-F on my DNS 320 a few weeks ago, and it works fine.
However, I see that the kernel is in the 4.4.86 version, and in kernel.org it seems that the latest kernel in this branch is 4.4.223.

Is my kernel safe to use?
Is it possible to do an update?

Regards

Adrien

I’d say you’re fine.
Check https://sourceforge.net/projects/alt-f/files/Releases/1.0/
It says:

Yes, I think so. Old ARM CPUs are not prone to the same issues that affect x86

Only with a new release.
I'm running 4.14.78 and didn't get the time to upgrade to 4.14.177. Latter kernel versions (>= 4.19) will likely never be used by Alt-F, as they require a newer gcc compiler (gcc-4.6, we are using 4.3) and that requires also a new toolchain. That should not be an issue for the DNS-320/320L/325/327L, but I think that it is not possible for the DNS-323/321 "grandpa". And I don't intend to leave anyone behind.
