Currently running a dns-323 with alt-f 0.1RC6. When attempting to upgrade to 1.0, I get the following error:

"Your box is a DNS-323A1 and this firmware is for the DNS-323Ax"

It then refuses to upgrade. I was trying to go to 1.0 from 0.1RC5 but was getting the same error - So I tried using the Alt-F-0.1RC6-DNS-323-rev-AxBxCx.bin file, which it took fine and upgraded perfectly - but still flatly refuses to take the 1.0 - any advice or help would most appreciated.

Thanks

I couldn't reproduce that. I flashed RC5 and the RC6 snapshot on a DNS-323-A1 and could flash the 1.0 snapshot.
I suspect that you have a stray file from previous releases. Please Use System->Utilities->Fixes->RemoveAll and try again (eventually after rebooting).
If it still doesn't works, please provide a screenshot and the output of commands

cat /etc/Alt-F
cat
/tmp/board
ls -l /Alt-F/usr/www/cgi-bin/firmware_proc.cgi

No luck with the first option. Output of commands listed below - odd that the firmware.proc file isnt there.

[root@Jungle-Storage]# cat /etc/Alt-F
0.1RC6
[root@Jungle-Storage]# cat /tmp/board
DNS-323-A1
[root@Jungle-Storage]# ls -l /Alt-F/usr/www/cgi-bin/firmware_proc.cgi
ls: /Alt-F/usr/www/cgi-bin/firmware_proc.cgi: No such file or directory
[root@Jungle-Storage]# cd /Alt-F
[root@Jungle-Storage]# ls
README.txt etc usr var
[root@Jungle-Storage]# cd usr
[root@Jungle-Storage]# ls
bin lib sbin share www
[root@Jungle-Storage]# cd www
[root@Jungle-Storage]# ls
cgi-bin nut
[root@Jungle-Storage]# cd cgi-bin/
[root@Jungle-Storage]# ls
nut
[root@Jungle-Storage]#

That is OK, it shouldn't (but could) be there.

I don't know what is happening on your box, the message you quoted in the first e-mail should not be displayed that way. Please provide screen shots instead.

I can only recommend to try again the flash procedure, doing new downloads of the firmware (.bin and .sha1) files from the official download site (sourceforge.net), removing all disks and usb pen and providing screen shots of the first and second Firmware Upgrade webpage, such as

As you can see from the above I can't reproduce your message on a dns-323-rev-a1 running (and flashed with) the RC6 snapshot and in the process to flash the 1.0 snapshot.

Hi João,

Thanks very much for your continued help - removing the disks and trying the upgrade again made all the difference - it worked first time.  I can only assume that there were files in the config on the disk that were preventing the upgrade.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi All,

I had quite similar issue: upgrade didn't start. I was using a DNS-323 rev C1 box with Alt-F 0.1RC5.

I tried it with three different browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Opera) but all were the same: after selecting the upgrade and the checksum files the browser started to upload them but at 5% I got an error message that the "connection was reset" in the main frame of the page. Then none seemed to be happening and the NAS carried on working normally without upgrading. I rebooted several times, tried switching services off and on but none helped. While the box was rebooting, I dug the forums except this article. So I decided to use the "RebootAndCheck" option knowing that it would take "years".

While the box was running the checks I had enough time to find this article and then I realised that I should have removed the disks before. (Really??? It was never required before.) I didn't want to break the checks so I waited until the box finished checking. Then I tried the upgrade and ta-daaaa: the upgrade started without issues.

So anyone how has similar issues, try RebootAndCheck (at System Utilities - Reboot or Poweroff menu) - it might help.

Have a nice day and enjoy rev1.0 just like I do. :-)

Regards,
István
