Hello guys,
for a few days I am trying to solve the issue with broken packages at my DNS-323 Rev-B1 with ALT-F RC4.

Whenever I try to install / remove the application from the list, i receive error:
ipkg_download: ERROR: Command failed with return value 5: wget -- passive-ftp  -q -P....  (see attachment)

The box is currently running Alt-F 0.1RC4 with kernel 3.10.32, and flashed with Alt-F-0.1RC4, initrd.

Can you please help me? I really dont know what to do. I cannot reinstall the box, there are so many data and I dont want to loose them.

Hi,

DNS-323-A1
Alt-F 0.1RC4.1

I wonder if this failure with ipkg is related, possibly some change at Sourcefourge?

Well, I'm just tagging on to your report as I have this problem that looks similar.  I don't know the cause.
I'm running Linux and set up ssh on the desktop machine to get that shell as well as Alt-F has to run an ssh service, which appears to be Dropbear, which might be running by default.  I don't know or remember if I had to install/enable it there.

Putty is an ssh client for Windows, I hear, so you can see a better source to find out about getting the shell might be the Alt-F group:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/alt-f
and/or Google. ;)

wget: can't resolve symbol 'SSLv2_client_method'

This is the issue origin: wget: can't resolve symbol 'SSLv2_client_method'

This has already been marginaly addressed in https://groups.google.com/d/msg/alt-f/EDzbn_LpEMo/WaP_EyL4BwAJ

In short, the wget program uses the openssl library, and the new openssl library has disabled SSLv2/v3 because they are considered insecure.

I can only "guarantee", for lack of resources, that programs and libraries work for the last Alt-F release. As you both are using RC4/RC4.1, if you install or update packages to the their last version you can incur in such problems.

So, either upgrade to RC5, reading and applying the needed fixes, or you don't update packages whose release date if post-RC5; if you have already updated packages, you have to remove them, which makes the original firmware pre-installed package to resurrect (and its "Remove" button becomes grayed/disabled).
This only applies to pre-installed packages such as wget or openssl. If you try to install say, Python, that also depends on openssl, it might not work.
