Hi,

Joao, thanks for doing such great job on ALT-F for D-LINK DNS NAS servers!

I'm building another server from used hardware parts.

Could you make ALT-F work on Debian?

Thanks,

I am also in the same situation. D-link nas boxes that are supported by alt-f are no longer available here and I am considering using a x86 box. It would be a big plus if the alt-f software and user interface could be built to work on it.

Unfortunately that is not possible. "Alt-F", or better, its webUI, strongly relies on the specific busybox and uClibc version features used. Also there is a strong coupling between its own base (boot, initscripts, hotplug, flash usage) components. For the rest it's just one more gnu/linux distribution -- due credits to all linux/gnu developers and maintainers out there.
Alt-F was "designed" for a specific box, the DNS-323, and luckily enough the concept could be easily extended to other boxes.
