After a quick powerfailure, (I really needed to put this on a ups ), my trusty dns-323 Rev B no longer seems to see my drives ( 2 4TB WD drives Raid 1), pulling the drives out and running smartctrl on them from my desktop doesn't seem to show any errors and I'm currently backing one of the drives up after mounting it on my desktop linux system just in case.

Telnet'ing in to the dns 323 with one drive in the box and running dmesg is showing the following,  does anyone have any ideas about what is going on?

hoping this isn't the end of my dns 323 Alt-f adventures!
Thanks in advance,
Rich

Hi, I couldn't fully understand your log, I looked for sata disks, I can see sata messages but I'm not sure if the box is listening for HDD's.

Can you see all 2 hdd led turned on watching the box? Or you can see just one led? May be I'm full out of understanding, but I'm thinking about My old DNS-323 that loosed the use of the second HDD. If it is your situation too, then your RAID failed but you should see almost one HDD. If your raid fails thaìen you shouldn't see any disk in tha stats page. You should see one disk at the Disk Utilities Menu.  Can you see any disk in the Disk Utilities page?

You can try to do the same putting the disk on the other bay, but probably you will get the same errors, but this time as ata1:
You can try to clean accumulated dust that might have slip to the connectors giving  bad electrical contacts -- use blowing compressed air -- I think to remember that it solve (similar?) issues for other users.

I tried asking exactly about the problem, because in the past I bought almost 6xDNS-323 on EBAY and 4 of them arrived with "B" bay not working. It wasn't so important for me because I used to have one disk only for NAS and the second just for utilities. I think some people isn't so correct because nobody wrote about these troubles, fortunatelly It wasn't so important for me. Anyway I tried to repair them and I found that thay had 2 small transistors, one for 5V and the other for 12V feeding the "B" bay. It appeares to me that those 2 small transistors were used only to delay the feeding of the "B" bay to help the power supply at the boot time. They were burned, so I just removed them and bridged togheter the  input and output pins so for 12V transistor as for the 5V one and I had all my DNS-323 working again.
If this is your case may be you can solve your problem.
