I've run all sorts of rice -- minute rice, long grain white rice,
brown rice -- thru coffee grinder as a quick way to clean them.

Seems to work, okay. Once a grain of rice became stuck in the
grinder. When I took it apart, I was happy to see what a good cleaning
job the rice had accomplished. However, the rice seems to linger, and
I notice white specks in the grinds for a while after the cleaning.

I hear good things about Grindz, and will probably try it.

I'm wondering about alternative things to run thru the grinder for a
quick clean? What have you used?

Thanks,
Larry

I have had raw rice jam up a 1.5 hp trash disposal -- it's awfully
hard stuff.

The recommendation I received many years ago was to use parboiled rice
-- like Uncle Ben's -- to clean my grinder. That has been working out
fine for years. YMMV, of course.
