With today's base game update, we've enabled the use of DirectX 11 (DX11) on an opt-in basis for PC/Windows users. If you're interested in enabling this feature, please see the patch notes here for instructions. Please note, if you've made any custom changes via mods or the configoverride folder you'll need to remove or adjust them before DirectX 11 will function.
Platform:
Which language are you playing the game in?
How often does the bug occur?
What is your current game version number?
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed?
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves?
What happens when the bug occurs?
What do you expect to see?
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods?
And finally, any screenshots, video footage or save files (Please send the link to @TheSimsDirect by clicking here, additional instructions here: ) you can share of issues occurring are of great value to us as well. We look forward to your feedback and working together to enhance your Simming experience!
Wow! One thing that I noticed so far is how smooth the game runs with DirectX 11. Like the panning in Sulani and San Myshuno is super smooth. I used to get a little camera studder when panning, but it's just so smooth with DirectX 11! Also, it fixed the edge smoothing issue where it would drastically show seem lines when edge smoothing was enabled. I had this problem since the beginning of TS4, but it's now gone! I am impressed! Implementing DirectX 11 was an excellent idea, especially since TS4 will be getting new content for many years to come! I'm glad that TS4 will continue to exist alongside TS5.
However, I'm still hoping for the removal of that shopping cart icon! Please make the right decision EA and remove it. Us, TS4 fans will still buy all your packs for TS4! We don't need that shopping cart icon in the game.
LOLOL! Disable edge smoothing, and then it will run! It's funny. It fixed the problem I was having with edge smoothing since the beginning of TS4, but yet you have to disable it to launch the game, and then reenable it when the game launches to get the effects.
And finally, any screenshots or video footage you can share of issues occurring are of great value to us as well. We look forward to your feedback and working together to enhance your Simming experience!
command and conquer generals and C & C generals zero hour, having difficulty running the game as its coming up with an error for Directx 8.1 required. I haven't got any issues running red alert 3 or other in the series. I have re downloaded latest directx but not having much luck. has anyone else had a similar experience?
The problem is that the "or higher" refers to higher versions of DirectX 8/9, not higher versions of DirectX beyond 9. The game can't actually use the DirectX 10/11/12 that is installed on windows machines by default nowadays, so updating to the latest DirectX will not help you.
It seems Generals, specifically, has an issue with DirectX that is caused by a malfunctioning dll in the game folder that was actually left there from testing. If you go into the game folder, and delete the file "dbghelp.dll" there, this problem should be resolved.
I am having the same issues but the solution listed did not help. I installed the patch listed and It did not work. I still get the directx error. Any help would be helpful at this point I am out of ideas
Well, I have tried closing all open programs and installing again but I get the same error. What is error code S1023? I tried Googling, but found many different responses for how to deal with it and I'm not sure what to do.
I've had the same problem twice already and the easiest and most concise solution that I found is located here (in MSDN Blogs -> Games for Windows and the DirectX SDK). However, just in case that page goes down, here's the method:
Note: This issue does not affect earlier version of the DirectX SDK which deploy the VS 2005 / VS 2008 CRT REDIST and do not deploy the VS 2010 CRT REDIST. This issue does not affect the DirectX End-User Runtime web or stand-alone installer as those packages do not deploy any version of the VC++ CRT.
After uninstalling too much on my Win7-64bit machine I was stuck here too. I didn't want to reinstall the OS and none of the tricks worked expect for this registry hack below. Most of this trick I found in an old pchelpforum port but I had to adapt it to my 64-bit installation:
run regedit;open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectXThen you must change the following two items:Item 1:Name: Version, Type:REG_SZ, The value should be a rather little number to make the installation success.
Item 2:Name: SDKVersion. But in your machine, the name can be different, for example, it can be ManagedDirectXVersion. But the type should be REG_SZ.Type:REG_SZ, The value should be a rather little number to make the installation success.
Product: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729.17. Restart required. The installation or update for the product required a restart for all changes to take effect. The restart was deferred to a later time.
I'm unsure if this is due to TiWorker being too dumb to handle the installation on-the-fly with previous/newer versions already installed, or if perhaps it couldn't have been me with some opened program holding a handle on msvcr90.dll.. anyhow even after some tinkering the only way forward here seemed to reboot.
Yesterday I played WT with no issues. i turned my laptop on later that day tried to boot up war thunder and I was met with the DirectX10 or Higher error. I was able to start the game no problem without EAC enabled. I assume its an EAC issue but not sure how to fix
Same here just five minutes ago, i ran sfc /scannow, validated the game files installed all updates for windows and reinstalled directx at -au/download/details.aspx?id=35, and that seems to have fixed the problem so far, can boot it up and play it fine, Tell me if this helps or not
Luckily those games have alternative render motors available, but many others don't, try to avoid D12 and D9 games if you are experiencing crashes and feel free to report any other game with crashes on this comment section to keep players informed about what works.
Advice has been to DOWNGRADE to 23.1.1 drivers (working so far). Others have reported success on graphics only drivers (no Adrenalin). Others have noted direct issues may be related to (or made worse by) enabling of FreeSync at specific frame rates above 144, or enabling Re-Live, or enabling the Overlay.
Symptoms: Crashing, Dropping to 1fps or lower for prolonged periods (can be temporarily fixed by a monitor reset, or disabling freesync in the monitor, or enabling it if it was already disabled), Audio is intact and uninterupted, complete loss of ability to enter task manager or desktop.
This is not related to amd drivers or windows updates , those are working just fine . I have finally managed to make then work , not only the direct x issues , but the drivers timeout aswell , basically , go to bios , search the advanced tab , on board device configuration , search pci-e bandwidth bifurcation configuration , make that 8x8 , since you have an SSD or M2 hard drive , the trafic bandwidth will mess up the driver from booting up properly, this setting will start the driver to work fine when windows boots up , as for the driver timeout on direct x sittuation , I found out that my RX 6600 was auto overclocking herself , from factory , until crash , I have googled the basic clock speed and core clock speed , for my graphics card , and changed the setting in amd running section , from 2700Mhz auto over clock , I changed to basic 2044Mhz , downclocking the graphics card seems to fix the problems , that stopped the crashing to all DX12 applications , I can finally play games and enjoy my sistem , those setting may not work for everyone , but it is worth a try , I hope this will help everybody that have problems on future , amd drivers and windows updates are working just fine , problems are with GPUs themselves . P.S : My XMP (D.O.C.P.P. ) ram speeds are over clocked to 3200Mhz RAM , and Re-size BAR is ON for 4G Graphics card Decoder , everything working fine .
I am developing a game in Unreal Engine 5 and when I use directX12 the engine or the build game always crash after 1 or 2 minutes with a directx12 error no exception. I try the same with directx11 and it works fine, I tried different things that I found online to try to fix it, but nothing works, so I am about to return it and maybe get an Nvidia since I see this is a common issue in the 7900 XT and XTX.
