Baby Jake is a British children's television programme originally broadcast in the UK. It first aired on 4 July 2011.[1] Baby Jake is also available on BBC iPlayer for over a year, and YouTube.
Darrall Macqueen originated the series and produced the animated elements of the programme through JAM Media.[2] JAM Media are an Irish animation studio who also made Tilly and Friends.[3] Maddy Darrall was quoted by the Metro as gaining inspiration for the show from watching her 7-year-old nephew understanding her 1-year-old son.[4]
The show features Jake, a 9-month-old baby. Jake is the youngest of ten children all living in a windmill with their parents, all with their first names starting with the first ten letters of the alphabet.
Each episode features Jake embarking on an adventure with a host of magical characters that include Nibbles the Rabbit, Sydney the Monkey, Pengy Quinn the Penguin, Captain Spacey and the Hamsternauts and Toot Toot the Tractor. These characters are always doing something related to the adventure that Baby Jake is on.
Baby Jake (portrayed by Adamo Bertacchi Morroni and vocal effects provided by Franco Bertacchi Morroni) is the main character of the show. He is a playful baby who imagines many different adventures.
The windmill featured in the series is Sibsey Trader Mill just outside the village of Sibsey near Boston in Lincolnshire. In the programme, it is shown as a large family home with additional floors, rooms and windows rather than a working mill, although it shows full working sails. Wheat harvesting in fields in and around the mill at the time had to be delayed to allow filming to take place back in the late summer of 2010 so that they had the correct ripened wheat colours.[5]
The show was relatively popular at launch compared to other BBC Children's TV programs, occupying all top five positions on the BBC CBeebies iPlayer for a week.[8] In 2013 the show received a UK Broadcast Award.[9] Its rating on IMDb was 5.4/10.
Mr. Jake you were a perfect Luke Skywalker. We fell in love with all of your cuteness instantly. PGP kinda has a thing for sweet babies. We just love all of our baby sessions. So our Star Wars newborn photography session together was so very sweet and lovable.
I hate it too, I have to go out of the room when it is on, actually I find a lot of the cbeebies shows really annoying especially all the put on voices, why do they have to make childrens shows so annoying for parents?
DS loves it, agreed happy wheezer that was what I said :). DS has started copying the bit where the brothers cuddle at the end and cuddles up to DS2 on the playmat, which is lovely. Other than that-freaky, baby operating way outside of his milestones!
I've never understood why adults complain about kids programmes. It'd be like me getting ds to watch Downton Abbey & then acting surprised when he doesn't like it.
Having said that, I think Zingzillas is a good ten minutes too long.
She is desperate to hang on to him. Other than the ONS with Liz what has Jason done to make Sam so scared of losing him? Where does this fierce insecurity come from? I must admit I have missed some episodes.
Thanks
i am not saying that sam should take the baby away from Liz because she is not a good mother herself, but why would liz ask jason to sacrfice and deny his own child so her mistake can stay hidden and for lucky not to hate her after what she did, and sit back and watch jason hurt but keep quite for her own good.
I am not a liz fan at all, but how do you explain her turning down Jasons TWO proposals of marriage if she were using anything to get him to be with her? Its the same argument with Sam, if she were really after money (as some have said), then she would have taken the millions offered to her by jason to get out of town in the first place.
Kids see Baby Jake enjoy trying new things and meeting new friends. Scenes that show the hustle and bustle of Jake's home emphasize the feelings of joy and belonging among family members. The show's animation style is creative and unique.
Parents need to know that Baby Jake follows the magical adventures of a baby whose image appears as a photographic head on an animated body and whose thoughts and words are provided by his older brother's voice. The visual effect of Jake's hybrid appearance is unusual, but the series is charming in its simplicity and in how it presents Jake's joyful reactions to new experiences. Viewers see Jake visit a farm, meet jungle animals, and play games with his animated friends who join in his adventures. The show also reminds viewers of the special bond that exists between siblings as Jake's brother interprets his thoughts and feelings for the audience.
BABY JAKE is a British series in which 9-month-old Jake (Adamo Bertacchi-Morroni) enjoys magical adventures that are narrated by his older brother, Isaac (Franco Bertacchi-Morroni, voiced by Kaizer Akhtar). Episodes open spanning the activity in the bustling windmill home of Jake, his parents, and his nine older siblings. The focus shifts to Jake and Isaac, and their adventure takes off as they look out the window and the scenery changes to suit the story's setting. Jake appears as a moving photographic face on an animated body, and along with his magical friends sets about exploring his new surroundings with the help of Isaac's voice.
The unusual and sometimes jerky animation style of this preschool series takes some getting used to. It's a bit like a gif that goes on and on (and on), following a giggling and babbling Jake as he visits outer space, goes on a picnic, plays in the snow, and so on. As he smiles and gurgles, Isaac's voice translates Jake's thoughts for viewers and fills in the dialogue while he plays with his friends, lending a certain authenticity in its seeming unscripted nature and joyful interplay between siblings.
Baby Jake is a unique and occasionally charming series, but its unique style likely won't be a hit with every viewer. Those who like it enough to watch will find positive messages that suggest that trying new things and having new experiences can be a lot of fun. The show also reminds kids of the special bond that exists among siblings.
Families can talk about Baby Jake's unique animation style. Does it suit the show's stories, or is the combination distracting as you watch? Do you think a similar style would work for other shows as well?
