Problem:Sapphire Radeon HD6450 drivers fail to load in Windows 10 (Code 39).I know it's an old card but it was a budget/purchase for an office PC. The PC is used to draw accident scene plans and is connected to a 40" Sony television.

I bought new computer. The Graphics card is AMD Radeon HD 6450, on Windows 7 it works fine but I try to install driver on Ubuntu, and it says that "No supported adapters detected". I downloaded the driver from here. After installing "Aditional drivers" says that driver is installed. Also my screen resolution in Ubuntu is not maximum. Can you help me install proper driver, please? Thanks in advance!

You should say which version of Ubuntu you're using. In 11.04, the open radeon driver should work well, though not perfectly. In 11.10, it's been improved further, and I much prefer it to the proprietary driver for my HD 5850. It's faster and it's easier to deal with.

The device already had a video card (Matrox VGA) which was working fine. Wanted to add this to support dual monitors. When I added the AMD Radeon HD 6450 then I would get a blank screen. (Output from the Radeon was colored pixels with no sign of response from keyboard). I would bypass the blank screen with Ctrl-Alt-F2 to get a terminal up, which displayed as expected.

My basic set up is below. My new monitor is supposed to be 2560 x 1440 but only 1920 x 1080 shows in the Windows settings or the AMD Catalyst Control Centre settings. I've updated the drivers to what came with the monitor and so the monitor name shows in the windows settings, and all software updates have been installed. So, I'm out of ideas and it's driving me crazy.

@axar..............Just got a great deal @micro Center for a Samsung UR590C 32" curved max rated for 3840x2160. Thought my "great deal" @ 1/2 price was for nothing as my HDMI (tried a display port cable too) connected ATI Radeon 5700HD from 10+ years ago only showed resolution choices up to 1920x1080 in windows. Checked specs for the ATI and updated all drivers and still no joy and no advise from Micro tech chats.

I've never updated the drivers (never needed to do so) and looking for information I found this thread, which I'd like to know if could be a solution to my case and, above all, not performing anything risky to my PC.

Price and performance details for the Radeon HD 6450 can be found below. This is made using thousands of PerformanceTestbenchmark results and is updated daily.

  • The first graph shows the relative performance of the videocard compared to the 10other common videocards in terms of PassMark G3D Mark.
  • The 2nd graph shows the value for money, in terms of the G3DMark per dollar.
