In recent years we’ve seen increasing commercialisation and privatisation of the provision of education internationally and in South Africa. Education is viewed by big investors as a lucrative market for guaranteed growth and big profit margins. The government of Liberia is even controversially planning to outsource parts of its education system to a private company.
Given the crisis in education in South Africa, is privatisation worth considering to improve the system and ensure good outcomes?
