Since the new democracy and the ending of sanctions, South African companies have been investing in several countries on the continent. In many cases this has been so extensive that they dominate certain sectors such as retail and banking of the economies of neighbouring countries. In previous shows we discussed the impact of South African countries on the continent, particularly in relation to jobs and their treatment of workers there. In today’s show we look at the specific case of a recent labour dispute between Shoprite and unions in Namibia.
