Froot Loops is a sweetened, fruit-flavored breakfast cereal made by WK Kellogg Co for the United States, Canadian, and Caribbean markets and Kellanova for the rest of the world. The brand was solely owned by the original Kellogg Company before it spun off its North American cereal division as WK Kellogg Co in late 2023.[1] The fruit-flavored cereal pieces are ring-shaped, with a variety of bright colors.

Kellogg's introduced Froot Loops in 1963.[4] Originally, there were only red, orange and yellow loops; green, blue and purple loops were added during the 1990s, with blue being introduced last in 1996.

The loops all share the same fruit-blend flavor.[5][6] Different production methods are used in the UK, where the company misleadingly sold the idea that each individual loop color was a different flavor.[citation needed]

Toucan Sam has been the mascot of Froot Loops since its first appearance. Toucan Sam is a blue anthropomorphic toucan; the colors of his bill correspond to the three original Froot Loop colors.[7] He is portrayed as having an uncanny ability to smell Froot Loops from great distances and locates a concealed bowl of the cereal while intoning "Follow my nose! It always knows!"[8] or "Follow my nose! For the fruity taste that shows!"

Kellogg's made several varieties of snack foods, including snack bags called Snack Ums. Snack Ums were similar to the cereal but larger. Their slogan was "Super-sized bites with deliciously intense natural fruit flavors" and "Flavor Bursting!"[10] Froot Loops-branding by Kellogg's was also used with the Froot Loops cereal bar,[11] and in 2021 Froot Loops Pop-Tarts.

In 2012, Kellogg's introduced Froot Loops to the UK market for a limited time with only the secondary colors (orange, green, and purple), as natural color substitutes for red, yellow, and blue could not be found. The recipe also differed from the US version. Kellogg's stated that "due to European legislation we have been unable to produce Froot Loops to the same specifications as the US product. The formulations are different, including sugar and salt levels and the UK version has been produced with natural food additives and flavorings which will account for the differences in appearance and taste between the two products." The UK Froot Loops are also larger in size compared with their American counterparts, and due to the different method of formulation, are a much coarser cereal. In September 2015, Kellogg's removed Froot Loops from the UK market due to a lack of demand for the cereal, although in 2017, a special Unicorn Froot Loops limited edition was released in the UK.[12] As of 2019, special limited edition Unicorn Froot Loops, Mermaid Froot Loops, and Baby Shark Froot Loops cereals have been made available.

Then you have Red 40, and a host of other artificial colours. BHT, or Butylated hydroxytoluene is a petroleum-based antioxidant used for freshness, but once again, the UK version manages to mysteriously not need it. It is possible that the natural colours (such as the carotene in the orange loops) are doing double duty, as they have strong antioxidant properties themselves.

Essentially, UK Froot Loops are quite unhealthy on their own, but in moderation you could fit them in to a reasonably healthy diet. US Froot Loops are a comparative nutritional void, laced with a variety of suspect artificial substances with links to hyperactivity and cancer.

Just bought 5 Cartons as I miss my froot loops (i only ever lived in NY for 3 years but got hooked on them) I happen to have one small individual american version in the pantry which I smuggled of the last cruise ship I was on and can tell you that SADLY the British version tastes absolutely vile. It not only looks different (probably less food colors) but it tastes not fruity and also rather salty. In this case i say give me the American version anytime!

on taste the US fruit loops wins hands down, UK ones are to crunchy seem to have very little taste at all. I got back from Florida a few weeks ago and bought some back with me and when i seen Tesco selling them i bought a few boxes and they are nothing a like in appearance taste or texture.

I remember seeing these brightly coloured and fruit flavoured cereals growing up, unfortunately for young me, these fun cereals were never on a parents shopping list. So during my younger years, they almost seemed somewhat of a mythical cereal that you hear about, but never actually get to experience. But guess what, now as an adult, I can now buy whatever cereal I want!

It could be the colours or fruity flavours, but this was a recipe I simply had to make. With a fruity cereal infused filling, this can then be sandwiched between a crispy yet chewy cereal base and plenty more flavoursome loops on top. How fun does this recipe look, perfect for the young, or young at heart! Who could say no to a slice of fruit cereal infused cheesecake.

Roughly crush 150g of the fruity loops for the base, you can also keep some whole. Then, in a large pot over a low heat, add the butter and marshmallows and whisk together until smooth. Finally, add in crushed fruity loops and stir thoroughly until well coated.

Pour mixture into prepared tin and firmy and evenly press over the bottom of the prepared baking tin. The mixture can be quite sticky, so I suggest oiling a mug or tumbler and using this to press the mixture down firmly. Once satisfied, place in the fridge to set while you make the cheesecake filling.

In a large jug, add the cream and 100g of the fruity loops. Give a good mix through and allow to sit, this will help the cream absorb those fruity flavours (approximately 10-15 minutes). Drain and strain the cream from the remaining cereal, reserving and set aside approximately 200ml of fruit infused cream.

Fruity Loops, now known as FL Studio, is a nifty little (well the old versions were little...the latest version is over 200 MB :) music sequencer.

Can't play the drums?, violin? trumpet, saxophone? OK you get the drift..Fruity Loops can play them all for you, literally!

In a nutshell Fruity Loops enables you to place prerecorded music samples of instruments, vocals, sound effects or any part of a recorded tune in the sequence of your choice within a time line. Then you can simply play it back in any order or fashion you want and also add smart effects to the playback.

At first fruity loops will seem scary to a new user, there are so many features and options. As you would expect at looking at a DJ turntable which has so many buttons and sliders, Fruity Loops is no different, but once you get the hang of it (Fruity Loops includes decent documentation) you will be creating awesome music in no time.

Fruity Loops was born in 1997 by its original creator Didier Dambrin. Fruity Loops Version 1.0 was literally a drum machine :) It then underwent a series of upgrades before it became FL Studio, an all powerful, feature rich music sequencer where you can literally produce the sound of an orchestra!
