Im learning latin american spanish and was wondering if anyone has used wlingua? I've used fluencia but I noticed that it mainly focuses on spain spanish while Wlingua teaches both spain and and mexican spanish. I was just wondering which one would be better for me to invest my time in. Does fluencia also teach mexican spanish? I also use rosetta stone, but it's really lacking in "knowing" the grammar and mechanics.

The grammar is pretty much the same everywhere. Each country has its own regionalisms or idioms. There are also differences in vocabulary. Just stick with proper "school book" Spanish, and you'll be able to read newspapers, and magazines from any of them.

Learn the "standard" pronunciation as given in Rosetta Stone. Each country has its minor differences, which is something you will have to get used to. When I first came here (the US) I wondered if the people of Mississippi spoke the same language as in Texas or in California. It seems, each state is different, yet now after living here over 20 years I can go anywhere and understand almost everything.

If you need help with grammar get a good textbook. I recommend "Panorama, Introduccin a la lengua espaola. Third or Fourth edition. It is an excellently written book and is pretty cheap on Amazon.com.
