SPANISH ALPHA

On any morning, on various street corners in Houston, men gather in groups from early morning until late afternoon-waiting for day labor in order to support their families. Mostly migrant workers who don’t speak English, they have little opportunity for connection with the churches surrounding them. Until several churches in the greater Houston area banded together to host a Spanish Alpha Course. It started with St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, “Alpha has made quite a difference in our church,” says Alan Nash, a retired lawyer. “During one period, about 20 percent of our professions of faith came through Alpha.”
