Hi guys,

Many of you were asking about the different events ALPFA NY has going on this summer. Below you can find a list of them. I encourage everyone to attend as many as they can as they are fantastic opportunities! I will be at many of them myself so lets coordinate going together (as each event approaches, I'll email the board to see who's going).

Also, expect an email outlining all the details for the convention soon. We're going to start signing up within the upcoming weeks. FYI- the rough costs will probably be about $450 per person but there are many opportunities to reduce them (scholarship winners, volunteer opportunities, commission on raffle ticket sells, etc.).

As we close out the spring semester and move on to the summer segment of the year, our focus is on your chapter’s plans for next year’s success as well as preparing students for internships, full-time job opportunities and the National Convention.

This program was created to help guide our students who have internships. Program participants will be given a mentor who will provide valuable feedback and advise ensuring that ITPP interns have a successful internship and secure a return or full-time offer.

ALPFA NY Committee and Board Members will be donating their Saturday afternoons to help you be prepared for the National Convention and Fall recruiting season.

Graduation Event

6/18 – Students must fill out the graduating student survey in order to be invited to this exclusive event. Click here to answer the survey.

This event is for graduating members as well as outgoing and incoming student board leaders. Professionals from the firms that our graduating students will be joining as well as recruiters from our sponsors who are looking to fill opportunities will be in attendance.

Pre-Convention Workshop

7/1 or 7/2 Tentative

This event will incorporate 2 brief rounds of mock interviews and 2 presentations: ‘How to Research a Company’ & ‘How to Make the Most of a Conference or Career Fair’. Vital information about how to take advantage of this year’s National Convention (August 3-7 in Washington D.C), this Fall’s Regional Student Symposium (in Boston, MA), any career fair and get a firm strategy for your job search.

 

C)   Convention Notes -

§   Hotel reservations are open: Students will be able to reserve hotel rooms for $220/per night.  The student rate will allow up to four guests at no additional charge.  When you go to the Convention website and click on “RESERVE ONLINE HERE,” there will be a drop-down menu on Gaylord’s website and you will select “I have an access code” and enter FTU2013.

§   Promotional Video:  ALPFA’s Value Proposition at Convention—Feel free to use this video to help encourage more of your student members to attend Convention.  I would like to thank and acknowledge the following ALPFA student members for contributing via interviews at last year’s Convention:
