Your tour will begin as you ride on a comfortable and fast speed boat which was custom built with state-of-the-art hydraulic launch and recovery system, to assure you a safe and smooth take off and landing. A friendly crew member will set you up with your harness, which will be hooked on to the open parachute, and before you know it, you'll be taking off on an unforgettable flight.

You'll experience the thrill and serenity as you fly up to 1,200 feet over the beautiful West Maui waters, overlooking the majestic West Maui Mountains, the islands of Lanai, Molokai, Lahaina Town or the Kaanapali Resort areas (depending on where you'll be departing from).

Lahaina Town is a great location for those who would like to explore the town, do some shopping or visit its historical sites, before or after your tour. Kaanapali is the perfect spot if all you want is to hang out at the beach, relax and get a tan, before or after your parasailing adventure. It also offers free parking at the Hanakao'o Beach Park, located just south of the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort.

Check in for your parasailing adventure under the green umbrella fronting Whalers Village on Kaʻanapali Beach. Guests must be at least 5 years old to participate and must weigh at least 160 pounds for solo flights. Tandem and triple flights are available as well, with a maximum weight limit of 450 pounds.

Im so sorry but you have the whales to blame for this. The area of Maalaea Bay and the areas between Lahaina, Kaanapali and the island of Lanai have actually been designated as a whale sanctuary during the winter months (between Dec. 15 and May 15th). This is the location the whales have been coming to for years and we want them to be protected. There are all sorts of rules and regulations that apply to boating operations in these areas at this time of year and one of them has to do with the parasailing operations which operate very fast moving boats which may be incapable of avoiding a collision with the slower moving whales. The best time to go parasailing on Maui is during the summer months, typically from May through September. During this period, the weather conditions are ideal, with consistent trade winds, warm temperatures, and clear skies, providing the perfect environment for parasailing. However, it is essential to note that parasailing operations are closed from December 15th through May 15th due to humpback whale migration in the area.

We came across a parasail operator in Lahaina. His minimum was taking out six people at a time but said he was hoping twins he had met at a bar the previous night would take him up on his offer to try parasailing.

My knuckles were turning white on my left hand that grasped what I believed was the only thing that was preventing me from falling out of the straps and becoming a story in the Honolulu Advertiser about a tourist being killed parasailing after plummeting into the Pacific Ocean.

Then, apparently realizing he had gone farther toward Molokai than he intended, instead of bringing me down, he went into a turn. The one strap I was holding onto was now beneath me as the boat turned, prompting my body to shift backwards and place pressure on the harness in new spots.

This was my first time doing parasailing for me and my wife. X-Treme parasail team was very polite and made me and my wife feel safe and comfortable. Thumbs up they did a great job, next time I'll do a 1000 feet.

West Maui Parasail now has two locations ... downtown Lahaina Harbor slip #15 AND from Kaanapali Beach under the yellow umbrellas near the Whaler's Village Shopping Center.Their minimum age to parasail is 6, and minimum age to be an observer on the boat is also 6. They restrict observers to one per boat. Flight time is approximately 8-10 minutes for the 1200' line. The minimum weight to fly solo is typically 150 pounds; the maximum combined weight for tandem flights is typically 450 pounds.

They have no restrictions on the number of observers per boat, even during the early bird time slot! Minimum weight to fly solo is 160 pounds. Flight time of the 1200 foot line is 10 minutes for single fliers and 12 minutes for tandem / triple flights. Flight time on the 1000 foot line is 8 minutes for single fliers and 10 minutes for tandem/triple flights.

NCL cruise ship passengers in Kahului are able to parasail either day in port. Transportation is not included, and is most economically done by renting a car. What a weird sensation! Imagine yourself sitting on the back deck of a boat. You are wearing a harness ... behind you a parasail is already inflated. The staff clips you onto the line, and you hear the boat's engines power up. You feel the boat sliding out from underneath you ... and moments later the boat has disappeared and you are hovering over the water just a few feet from the surface. Parasailing has evolved into a highly safe art form. The take-off and landing both happens on the boat. When your ride concludes, they reel you in like a fish. Anyone can do it and there is no experience necessary and nothing to learn. Certain weight limits do apply ... see the details above for each tour company's guidelines. But keep in mind these are guidelines, and are subject to change at the captain's discretion based upon wind and ocean conditions.

West Maui parasailing boats hold 12 people, so larger groups can go together on one boat ... each boat is limited to a maximum of five flights so a party of 12 will need to do tandems and triples in order for everyone to fly during one timeslot on the same boat. One non-flying observer is allowed per boat at a rate slightly lower than parasailors.
