Aloha All!
First off, the next meetup will be on Wednesday November 16, 2011.
Topic: Sinatra - The Web App Framework and Maybe some Music by Frank Sinatra.
Speaker: Ted Price
Next, I would like to let everyone know about the Global Day of Code Retreat. It will be on Saturday, December 3rd.
The Hawaii Code Retreat will take place at the Manoa Innovation Center, 2nd floor conference room.
Seating is limited to 30 individuals. And we are currently searching for Sponsors for Food and Drinks.
Next, I would like to let everyone in the group know about Aloha Ruby Conference!
Aloha Ruby Conference will be on October 8th and 9th of next year (2012). It's 3 months before the Doomsday will supposedly take place, so everyone should still be able to attend.
We're extremely excited that Jeff Casimir and Jumpstart Lab will be doing a 2 day training session which will be extremely useful. Registration will start in January. I suggest registering early, as we are looking to keep the maximum number of attendees low to keep the event intimate.
You can get more news about the conference by following the Twitter account: @AlohaRubyConf and the website is currently being brought up.
For those interested in submitting proposals and sponsorship information, those will be coming up as well.
Lastly, JRuby has turned 10! In honor of it's 10th anniversary, the Pragmatic Programmers are having a sale of the JRuby book. More info below.
In honor of JRuby’s tenth anniversary, we’re offering a 25% discount on pragprog.com/book/jruby, the definitive guide to our favorite Ruby implementation. Use coupon code JRubyTEN, expires 11/2/2011.
Cheers,John
