Iam having a couple problems when playing command and conquer generals zero hour. So far I've only had this first problem when playing the online multiplayer missions. Roughly half the time my cursor will disappear during mid-gameplay. The cursor icon will appear frozen at some point on the screen and it will still react to mouseovers (unit select, scrolling side to side, etc) but since it does not move about the screen, the game is unplayable.

I've tried decreasing resolution, graphic detail, mouse scroll speed, but it still happens about half the time. It also happens with different driver versions, 71.84 which I just upgraded to, and the old drivers (not sure what the old version number was. bought the card in early jan and was using the provided drivers if that helps).

I also getting problems with the landscape. In some maps, instead of seeing desert, grass, or snow, I end up seeing a green pixelated landscape with black squares and triangles throughout. Example here:

The landscape problem happens in single player skirmishes as well has online multiplayer games. Again, I've tried decreasing resolutin, and graphics detail but still get the problem. I'm also updated to the latest game patches.

Any ideas of what might be wrong and/or suggestions on how to fix it would be appreciated. The problems may not even be stemming from the graphics card, but I suspect it is the cause (esp for the landscape problem). Also, please prompt me if you need any additional information. Thanks!

i would check EA's forums for C&C about this as you are bound to find others there with that exact problem (just like you would find plenty of DFI users with an exact same problem here since this is all about DFI heh)

I've already tried searching through there, and I've seen some people who have had the same or similar problem, but I haven't seen a solution yet. I'm just about to head over there to post this same quesiton. I've also psoted this is evga's forum to see if anyone there has some ideas.

I've been talking with EA tech support about my game issues, and in their last reply to me they suggested that I make sure to get my motherboard driver and firmware updates because the dxdiag file I sent them isn't reporting everything properly. So I downloaded and ran the revision 6.37 Nvidia system driver file.

I was comparing the dxdiag reports from before and after my update, and while driver versions are changed, the type of information reported in each looks basically the same. However, I don't know what much of the reports mean, so I can't tell is something is being reported incorrectly.

Angry, if I dropped you and email w/ the dxdiag report attached, would you be willing to take a look at it and tell me what in it doesn't look right? I don't want to copy and paste the report here because it is quite long.

This is anecdotal evidence but it sounds familiar. During beta testing of Everest, I detected large differences between my detail reports after a system crash. Further research lead to finding large areas of corruption in the Windows Registry.

The details. I was regularly outputing configuration files for review. After the crash I noticed that the size of the file had dropped by almost 3K. I compared before and after files to find large sections missing. One giveaway was that Everest no longer identified my motherboard.

Hehe, I'm one step ahead of you actually, just yesterday I formatted and did a clean install of XP and the game. I've played several missions w/o the cursor disappearing so that may be fixed (though it wasn't happening to me every time), but the landscape texture problem is still there. EA's suggestion came after I sent them the clean install report (but before I ran the chipset driver update)
