So are we supposed to know what's happening really? When we speak of caring
for the planet, we are saying caring for the human race, saving the planet is
human speak for saving the human race. Are we that important to the planet
that we should curb our actions, should we try to manipulate the environment?
The earth will survive without us, it needs not one thing from human beings
and yet we need everything from it. Will humans survive, or will they survive
the way we know them now? We should probably manipulate our behaviour, and be
more caring of the things of the world, and yet as a race we have never been
so clever, and this is the place of people at the moment, as it was once the
place of dinosaurs. The species of animals insects and plants that have been
wiped out by our actions may not be quite as bad as that which caused the
extinction of the dinosaur, possibly? But then that was a natural event in
the scheme of things, if anyone thinks there is a scheme of things. Is human
residence and population a natural even in the history of the planet as well?
If so, then things will happen, and maybe the human race will be eradicated
just as it has eradicated other species with its actions? An event within the
universe which destroyed the dinosaurs may also destroy the human species as
well as many others, and the planet will be inhabited by another that becomes
the main resident?
Should we really worry? Should we just enjoy the time each of us has with a
thought always for generations ahead and bend our own to maintain what we
have for our grandchildren? Does our generation really need everything? Can
we live in peace and cooperate and in that way do minimal damage to ourselves
by doing minimal damage to the things around us, and learn how to live with
the other living beings and systems already in the place we choose to settle?
Thus not kill and clear everything so we have a clean canvas upon which to
build a small cell of selfishness in which we can live with everything we
think we want?
I wonder about these things.
Be well,
Charlie
