We are now in the midst of our summer. We have had some reasonable
temperatures even with some rain, but now it is like summers of old, around
the 40 degrees Celsius and nothing more certain than there will be more of
the same.
The scent of sweet nectar from the Blue Gum blossom permeates the air and the
poultry spend most of their time in amongst the shade of apple trees or
nettle thickets. The nettles are allowed to grow as they will, because they
are ideal shelter for the young pullets from the hawks falcons and other
predators of the air.
The apricots are ripening quickly and we are bottling fruit to try to preserve
what we are unable to eat now. Any dead falls or half eaten fruit dropped by
the Rosellas are consumed by the sheep. Though the dogs are also partial to
ripe apricots and even like the kernels.
Interesting all right.
Hope everyone is well.
