Join us on Thursday, May 7
on City Hall Plaza for
Boston’s National Bike to Work Day Festival!

We'll be celebrating from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., rain or shine. This festival is our way of saying, “Thanks for riding your bike today!” It's important to celebrate everyone who rides in Boston, and to encourage newer riders to try out commuting with more experienced neighbors.

Join a group ride leaving from your neighborhood or show up just for fun.
Register today! By registering, you can sign up for a free t-shirt. We also share information with group ride leaders so they know who to expect. This year, groups will be traveling to City Hall from destinations as far away as Salem, with pickup points in 25 different municipalities! Registration closes on Tuesday, May 5 at 5 p.m.

Each year from late spring through mid fall, we offer about 25 workshops free to Boston residents. The workshop attendees are provided a bicycle and a helmet for the duration of the workshop and are supported by a team of instructors. This season, the workshops are located in Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park, South End, Roxbury, East Boston, and Downtown. The workshops in the series include:

Basic Skills (Level 1 and 2): for those who have never learned to ride or who want to work on basic skills. Some Basic Skills workshops are reserved for women and gender diverse adults. Others are offered for all adults.

Road Readiness (Level 3): This workshop is perfect for people who have been through our Basic Skills (Level 1 and 2), are new to riding bikes on City streets, or want more support before exploring biking on-street. We learn and practice hand signals, advanced bike handling, and defensive riding.

Street Skills (Level 4): an educational group ride to practice street skills. The routes include off-street paths, separated bike lanes, and low-stress shared streets. This workshop is perfect for people who have completed a Road Readiness (Level 3) workshop, are comfortable biking on paths but not sure about riding in the street, or want to build confidence riding on street.

The full 2026 Learn-to-Bike schedule will be announced next week and available on
