Dear Friends,
I’m writing with a hopeful update on the repairs at the Allston Brighton Food Pantry.
After the severe winter damage caused by ice dams and roof leaks, restoration work is moving forward quickly. Remediation and repairs are now about 65% complete. We have installed a new roof on the back portion of the building, completed new electrical wiring, and drywall and insulation work will begin early next week. If all continues on schedule, we are hopeful that the building will reopen at the end of April and shortly thereafter we can resume serving our neighbors.
Our insurance policies have covered around 60% of the costs of remediation and repair. To fill this gap, we are launching the 2026 Building Re-Opening Campaign, with a goal of $50,000, so that these unexpected repairs do not divert funds from feeding our community.
Your support will help restore the building and allow us to reopen our doors as quickly as possible. Every contribution brings us one step closer to reopening and continuing the work of neighbors feeding neighbors.
Thank you for standing with us during this unexpected challenge. We look forward to welcoming our community back very soon.
With gratitude,
Matthew R. Rasure
