I'm sharing this because many of you are active in Allston-Brighton community organizations, youth sports, or neighborhood initiatives.  

The excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup showed how deeply soccer resonates in Boston. Before the world's attention arrived here, local organizations like the Oak Square YMCA*, PAL soccer, St. Columbkille Partnership School, and the Jackson Mann Community Center were using the game to bring families and neighborhoods together.

One local soccer-oriented organization is the Soccer Unity Project, whose Boston Unity Cup has celebrated Boston's diverse communities since 2018.

This Thursday, July 23, Soccer Unity Project will host a hybrid community meeting at the Josephine A. Fiorentino Community Center at Charlesview to discuss its low-cost youth soccer programming.

Boston Unity Cup 2026

Building on the energy of the World Cup, this year's Boston Unity Cup will feature 42 teams representing the cultures and traditions of more than 35 countries.

 

Boston Unity Cup Championship Day & Closing Ceremony: Saturday, August 8, 2026, afternoon, at Carter Playground, near the Northeastern campus. If you are interested in attending and would like to car/ T-pool, please email back. 

*The Oak Square YMCA is now registering families for Early Fall Youth Sports Session beginning in September.
